It's probably going to be mediocre with good art and soundtrack as well as upped animation, which should be fairly enjoyable in a cinema-environment.

Honestly, if Alicization ever gets animated, then there's a very high chance that it will be my favorite anime of all time.
And that's coming from someone who hasn't even watched the anime of any SAO other than the first season.

LWA this week was my favorite episode since episode 3. The last 3 episodes had cute moments but felt kinda slow.

As for the SAO movie I dunno if I would watch it if its original material. A lot of the novels aren't great (though everyone seems to love Alicization. I am not there yet so I guess its something to look forward too in the lns Personally I love SAO: Progressive and would love for them to animate that.

Ping Pong is great, it's amazing how that series managed to have such good character developement for 5 characters in only 11 episodes/55 chapters.

Alicization has the benefit of actually starting a new game-world from scratch, instead of having Kirito join and day 1 becoming the most godlike player ever. Kirito as a character being so poorly written in his characterization through the series actually swings him in a good direction for once, as it has him as a pretty laid back goof in Alicization for the most part, as well (as opposed to the emo-edgelord he can be in other arcs). And to top it off, for much of the story, the Dutchwife has very minimal involvement outside some cringe-worthy speeches involving AI.

Finished the second last arc (I believe) in YYH:+ Show Spoiler + the shinobu one. Damn, was glad that they made Yusuke have demonkin blood and I'm glad to see that he'll be going to the demon realm. The whole special aura that only Shinobu could use was pretty silly imo but whatever, I've seen other shows pull off stuff just as bad lol. Only thing I don't like is how they keep reviving dead people. Like, amumana died using his ability but Konema revived him with the Mafuba right before he was going to face Shinobu weakening it. Just seems silly to kill someone then revive them etc...
It makes it hard to believe that any MC will died, well, except Yusuke lol.
Also, what is it with shows and people deciding to just get married out of thin air? Happened in db too. Goku thought it was food and agreed to it and now we have Yusuke asking Keiko to marry him 3 years after he comes back. On the bright side, I'm excited for them to explore the demon realm and to see Yusuke fight both Kurama and Hiei. It's coming! :D

I've read it when it was coming out (some of the last volumes were missing at the time of reading, so I didn't finish it though) but it was one of the best reads I had ever done at the time, and it could be a superb anime I think, if made correctly.
Though, there wouldn't be that many possibilities to add fanservice, I think, which is why it's very unlikely to be animated. 
Overall Sentenal explained it pretty well I think.
Alicization is a completely new twist on SAO, which I won't spoil. Kirito is different and he's not quite as OP as he is in every other arc. The arc overall is also several times longer than any other arc, and the story improves severalfold aswell.

When the SAO author sits down and takes his time on his work he can write good stuff. Its just that with this author he put out many vols before he put everything together and wrote his better stuff. Progressive is good as well (though more SAOy because its the first arc just done slowly as they do the quests and bosses from each floor).

I mean, it's been like 13-14 years since he first wrote SAO. he has so much more LN writing experience now than before. That's how accel world, isolator, and progressive turned out a lot better.

Man the subtitles for gabriel dropout are so fucking garbage
kind of annoys me each time i watch them, they take so many 'creative' liberties with their translations ending up with subs that are nothing like what the characters said just to keep up making hell/heaven puns

I wonder how much the "bad" in LN writing is from the publishers pushing an agenda versus the authors themselves not being great. I feel it often falls more into the latter than the former. Just sad how formulaic they have to make things, it must be worth it though if they keep doing it regardless.

I mean the thing about LNs is that there's so fucking many of them and almost any shitty author with the ability to write semi-coherently with waifus added can get published
So anytime someone does something somewhat original or new in a LN 50 other authors copy them within a year if they were even moderately successful trying to jump on the bandwagon before it dies out
