so who wants to watch Kizumonogatari with me. Airing january the 23rd or 24th (Cologne / Frankfurt, among others) in Germany! I can make it to either of those two.
Need ADT meetup. Elem I won't dodge this time if you show up! PROMISED!
23th is a Saturday, 24th is a Sunday. 10€ per movie you want to see (only Kizu worth imo), or 50€ for a daypass
I might sounds shady at times but I'm actually not a rapist / child molester / murderer or anything like that. So no need to be afraid! Also thanks for Maru who posted this on irc
Noragami: Even more mediocre than s1. Storytelling was very weak. Most of the time nothing happened, then they realised and made an info-dump. There was also a high abundance of asspulls in this one. Lots of things weren't resolved as well but they already showed that they are aiming for a s3. 4/10
Btw. what happened to the random guy that kissed Hiyori? They even used it as a cliffhanger and then it wasn't mentioned ever again, let alone having any impact at all.
Kaiba: This was very surreal and interesting. Great setting and really interesting use of animation, art style, storytelling and music to create something unique. I didn't quite like how they handled the ending because it didn't give the same vibe as the rest of the show. Overall very much worth watching though: Go watch it Numy! 8/10
Kaiba: I think the story around the plant was very underdeveloped, especially considering that it was considered legendary among the citizens. I liked the parable of Kaiba (the memory-eating plant) and Kaiba (Warp) who was also kind of sucking up all memories. Aside from that there wasn't much though.
Romance: Kind of abstract. For the amount of screentime it had it was developed quite badly imho. A long time no development happened at all, despite showing the romance over and over and then they showed tons of flashbacks (basically an entire episode). I think it would have been better to give more emphasize on the setting instead of this. Which leads me to my next point.
Setting: There were a lot of interesting themes concerning memories, their exchange/loss, body exchange, government control, sciene (cloning, synthetical bodies etc.), revoloution, manipulation (this was especially interesting because of the way memories were handled in this show) and the impact of all of these on the society. Some of them were handled well while others seemed to fell a bit short in the end. Part of the reason for that is the ending. I don't really understand why they focussed on a good vs evil ending towards the end with lots of action and drama instead of chosing a more philosophical road. I think this would have been much better if they had done 24 episodes and focussed a lot more on the world instead of the romance/good vs evil story.
Music: I meantioned this before but the soundtrack for this was amazing. It didn't have a lot of tracks but each mood was conveyed perfectly. It was also quite memoriable which made me feel nostalgic already while watching the show which is a huge plus for the atmosphere in a setteing like this.
Ushio to Tora: Surprisingly decent. Back in spring, when I was looking at the summer chart I thought I might try this if everything else turns out to be shit. I randomly tried it someday and really liked it, mostly because of the comedy. The show had its up and downs and despite the meh'ish animation and nakama power it was a solid watch in general. The main cast as well as some of the supporting cast was pretty likable. low 7/10

no idea, but some of those seem pretty unwatchable... Like DanMachi is a dubbed version of the first 3 episodes I think, lot's of weird Live-Action and stuff like that
But Kizumonogatari is original version with subtitles! (no idea if german or english subtitles)

It's weird. I mean the anime wave is hitting the west pretty hard atm. and you can see it everywhere but often the choices of what gets public attention is very weird. Like, 2 or 3 month ago I looked into a program of our local cinema and Expelled from Paradise was running. o.O

I think FFGeneration likes her as well.
she's great, a lovey lovey type with a spectrum of traits from himedare to motherly, with a big ass latina booty on a 4 ft tall frame with an adult loli face topped by twintails.
u know i was complaining at first coz she isn't a true loli but it didn't take me long to begin to appreciate her. she's a good girl
also Rakuen Tsuihou: Expelled from Paradise looks pretty cool, why no one mentioned it before? anime movies are pretty rare yo....
it doesn't sound like ass! But it really sounds like we will only get vol1 and nothing else. Looked up Wiz introduciton yesterday and yeah, that was still like 50% into vol1 as well.

The official manga translation for one punch man is so fucking bad especially with regards to names/hero names. A lot of names are either translated fully(Tatsumaki = Tornado, Butagami = Pig god, Fubuki = Blizzard and so on), only translated halfway(Ikemen Kamen Amai Mask = Handsome Kamen Amai Mask) or not translated at all(Mumen rider, Asura Kabuto,).
I don't particularly mind either of the three options, as long as it's atleast somewhat consistent. But it's not, it's all over the place. And then there's Tatsumaki and Fubuki, Viz decided to translate it so their NAMES are now Tornado and Blizzard. Who the fuck translates names? Their hero names are indeed "Terrible tornado" and "Blizzard of hell" if you translate it, and tatsumaki does indeed translate to tornado and fubuki does indeed translate to blizzard. But Tatsumaki and Fubuki aren't their hero names, it's just their actual names, the HA just decided to include their real names in their hero names. It'd be like translating the name of a character named Sakura and have the characters in the english translation call her "Cherry blossom". You don't translate names like that, it's dumb.

I'm surprised the post was 4 days ago. For some reason, I thought it was made yesterday.
What other issues do you have with the official OPM TL? I've started to learn Japanese recently and currently going through katakanas so I can't check the original and compare them side-by-side. I know the fan translator fixed Light of Speed Flash to Flashy Flash because his original name didn't imply redundant speed apparently. It's disappointing to hear that even official translations aren't that great.

It was mentioned here before. Nagi even streamed the movie a while ago. Also: Rare compared to what? Series? Because there enough movies coming out imho.

Sorry if it's one of your favourite VAs but to me, high pitched voices like that almost always sound annoying.

none of my fav VA's. I'd just say they picked those scenes on purpose. Will have to see what it sounds like in a full episode instead of non-stop looping of those kind of scenes.

Viz's translations are just often too stiff and rarely know what to localize and what not to localize. Especially a lot of the jokes or funny one-liners are 10 times better when translated by UK (they guy who's translated like 95% of everything OPM both webcomic and manga).
In the fight against boros after boros drops his armor viz went with saitama going "Oh" instead of "Ok" In that context Oh is just plain unfunny and implies that saitama is being surprised(or atleast pretending to be), him going with a casual "Ok" is much funnier because it much clearer expressed that he plainly doesn't really care.
When saitama runs into Tatsumaki after coming out of the ship and she insults him genos eventually replies Viz went with him saying "Listen, you poopy brat. Shut up and scram" while UK went with "Hey you shitty brat, shut your mouth and piss off" The fan translation might be a bit more rough in terms of the words used, but "poopy brat" just sounds fucking idiotic and sounds like they didn't want to swear but wanted to keep it close to what was being said.
There are some more examples, but i don't plan to sit and go through it right now. But yeah overall it's just more entertaining with the fan translation compared to what Viz went with, and Viz's translations are just sometimes downright awkward, like "poopy brat"

That had a lot of action. I'm pretty satisfied with the final episode despite the cliffhanger. I hope Yu and Mika will go back to get Krul back along with Guren and Kimizuki's sis. I can't imagine krul being gone here if Guren is still alive so i think she is fine but maybe in jail or something. They are pretty connected.
I hear from the author that now the human vs vampires arc is done. I think it'll just be them vs angels/demons now.

Yes, me too. Quite satisfied. I didn't expect such an action packed episode. Not sure if they can get Guren back, though maybe... he obviously was possessed by the demon in this episode.
Also, demon vs angels would be a nice change. Should also be less familiy whining by Yu, Mika & Yu was pretty bad in S1 and still really present in S2. With both united, it could become more action focused. But who knows...
