+ Show Spoiler + I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to take from the series' war theme. While it's great that Maria never gave up trying to stop war and even did stop war, if you were to pretend it was real history war still would happen again after her death and gets even more violent with WWI and WWII. Then as the series shows just because a battle is stopped it doesn't mean both sides still don't want to kill each other along with people being harmed because the battles were stopped. Overall I really liked the series. Fan service I didn't mind but I liked the sex comedy. Priapos never got a dick haha. My favorite parts were in the first half's fighting scenes, but the drama of the last half was well done too. There never is a real solution to the problems, but there shouldn't be because even with magic these things were hard to solve. | ||

Of course with the end scene it ended with more drama but aside from the last minute the episode was nice and happy. I thought the opening scene was funny and well done. Most of the episode was the inevitable relationship rebuilding between Yui, Yukinon and Hikigaya. I agree the ending was expected. I don't feel too bad for her though since she probably likes Hikigaya more; just hasn't come to terms with her feelings yet. I guess next episode will be the arduous task of setting up the Christmas party while trying to comfort a shattered Iroha. Plenty of room of cynicism and drama. | ||

Ebina's scene in particular got absolutely butchered. They changed the tone to emphasize the BL joke. It also has the effect of making Ebina seem "softer", which I don't approve of. I guess they axed the scene so that plot threads aren't left dangling at the end of the season or something. It's still annoying though. The closest I got to a coherent theme is something like "War is bad, but it's a product of the time/society so achieving peace is unrealistic. But it's still a good ideal to aim for." It's a pretty shaky theory. I suppose you could argue that there really isn't a point, and that the show is more character driven than anything else. Heck, Galfa's development and conflict was a lot more interesting to me than Maria's own issues. Bernard's subplot felt fucking pointless. | ||

From what I saw, Yona does a lot of things a battle shounen would do. It's a problem that most shoujo/shounen do very similar things, so one gets the feeling that those terms are genres when they are not. | ||
