Ufotable stuff does look really good, but for some reason I have a gut feeling i'm being tricked somehow. Its like they are trying to pass special effects and filters off as good animation, and are succeeding wonderfully at it. At any rate, its nothing to complain about, I just wish I knew what they were actually doing to get their stuff to look like they do.

They have a lot of budget because they used to make movies not TV series.

I haven't seen Eureka Seven, but "all the weirdness" is a pretty good description of Xam'd. Still a good show though, if you like weird stuff.

I thought that E7 was pretty meh and Xam'd was a lot better. I think it can get a bit dry, and I don't think the characters have the same flare as some of the people you find in Eureka, but I think it has the better world building, and a lot more humanistic elements in its characters that adds a level of depth/realism to the story. Anime such as these really depend on their world building, and while Xam'd is ultimately, in my view, woefully incomplete, I'd pick it over E7 any day.

It's been hinted that Mahouka's MC was OP from the start (pretty much during that first fight if I remember correctly) so I don't think it's a good reason to "put down" the anime for it. I enjoyed seeing just how OP he got though the ability that he used towards the end was a bit much imo. As for Valvrave, it could've done things better and explained some things further but overall, it was not that bad. Biggest problem for me was that it got boring at times and the story could've been more fleshed out. The issue with Mahouka's MC is that all the girls and other characters are generally pretty interesting but his OPness overshadows them. If you just removed him the whole story would be better. Neo likes Miyuki gushing after him so he wouldn't enjoy it as much but apart from that it'll give the other characters more opportunities to shine. Well I also think the author is completely inconsistent in how he treats the emotions of the MC but I'll prob get shouted at if I start this again :< I actually liked the LN for the most part except the last 2/3 which I found unbearably idiotic. Erika/Mari/Lina are really dam good and so is Miyuki when Tatsuya isn't around. It's true, his OPness does overshadow some of the other characters but it's also the vision of the author that you are seeing (he wants someone whose's crazy OP lol) so it's one of those things you just gotta bear with if you are that interested in Mahouka. Personally, I really enjoyed the anime despite his OPness because it always made me wonder just what his real abilities are. I dunno though, it doesn't bother me much that other character don't get as much spotlight as a result. I just don't see why the anime gets lots of flak especially if someone already knew how it'll develop going into the anime. It's like people being mad over Tokyo Ghoul's second season despite knowing that they took a totally different direction from the start -_- Knowing that the MC of an anime is a magical ninja jesus batman going into it doesn't magically mean you can no longer say that you dislike that aspect of it. I thought mahouka had a fairly interesting setting with some good characters but overall i felt that Tatsuya being not just OP but overall a very boring character kind of ruined it. I wasn't wondering how anything would end or be solved, because in the end the answer would always be SASUGA ONII-SAMA, which frankly got boring after the 20th time. I didn't hate mahouka though, i thought it was passable/enjoyable and i felt like a lot got lost in the transition from text to animation because frankly i couldn't imagine anyone creating such a boring main character, i'm sure if i read the LN i wouldn't dislike him quite as much. Disliking and complaining about one aspect of an story doesn't mean that you hate all of it. You misunderstand. I'm not saying you can't complain or enjoy the story, far from it actually. I'm just saying that if you already know that's the case, the anime isn't going to magically change his character so that he overshadows characters less etc... In other words, Tatsuya will always be OP and overshadow other characters (even more in the anime it seems lol) unless they decide on their own approach (I think this is rare though?).
My comments were more directed at those (not anyone specific, in general) who would keep complaining about it despite knowing that it won't change. The Tokyo Ghoul example I presented in my earlier post illustrates this well. People kept complaining about TG despite knowing that it won't be the same as the manga at all. Anyways, not really much to discuss at this point since there's no disagreement between us

I mean, E7 got really weird and pseudo-sciency, but at least everything stayed consistent with the setting they made. And even ignoring all the kooky stuff, it was really just a coming-of-age story for Renton and a love story (multiple, actually) alongside the messy character dynamics of people, friends and family in a war.
Xam'd just...barely made sense, and most of it is only explained during or after the fact.

In all honesty, how does the compatibility graph on MAL work? We have like 16 shared animes with a mean difference of 2 in scores and still have the compatibility "extremly high" (86,2 %)? lol Anyways, if you have lots of free time marathon Hunter x Hunter 2011. It should be worth it as your 100th completed anime.

That makes him Sentenal tier of compatible with me, because he's at 68.8%. I might have to add that I have never watched a gundam series in my life, except for one gundam movie with gay tendencies (Goody would not approve) during ADT movie night.

Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: Memory of Eden
It also had hayamin as random engineer chick, never seen before in the movie, telling some other unknown guy that she loves him before one of them got deployed. So she's like "I love you. I want to make babies with you" and instantly dies of course. Or him idr

Hibike! Euphonium ep 6 was so good. This show reminds me so much of Iroha. Got that mix of drama and adorable going perfectly.
