But yeah, anime thus far hasn't given us much of any reasons to think otherwise.
Ayase would be brilliant to have, she is the Senjyogahara of OreImo, can't not have.
And really, the answer to the slow at reading part would just be learn to read faster. I know there are some people who prefer dubs over subs. I also think they are nuts. Total agreement there. Ayase is the only non-one dimensional girl in oreimo because she's TOTALLY unpredictable. She's the only girl that's comfortable dealing with guys and Kyousuke is just a pawn in her hands, the ture 'queen' of the series (in LN that is, anime didn't really expand much yet) On a side note, in the upcoming Oreimo game, Ayase route will be written by the author. He's the only one and whilst I'm not into VNs anymore, may take a look just to see the character this time round. Kuroneko as a character was pretty much established since ep3, nothing new since. I attribute much of the Kuroneko love as the fallout of Kirino hate. Kirino is just mis-understood. She's not necessarily a tsundere, because she simply doesn't show her feelings via dere. As long as viewer get used to the fact that Kirino shows her affection via tsun, it's all good. Besides her behaviour is the longest running gag of the show. Why would people want to have character development towards 'goodie-two-shoes' anyway? Ep9 is neat as an anime original as you can read plenty from these scenes. Kirino was looking for 'guidance' from the eroge, by pretending to be Kyousuke (taking his likely choices). Didn't change the 100% tsun imouto's behaviour YET managed to get on her route anyway. Ironic much?
I liked Kureneko before Kirino started bugging me.
I think what's turning me off is that every episode she just gets crazier and crazier in terms of her tsun status. While it's fine for her to not act nice at all, I think the fact that she acts like a spoiled little brat is inherently what turns people against her.
But to be honest, I think that's supposed to be the right reaction that we get from the viewers. It sparks sympathy for Kyousuke, who has to deal with her all day long.

Just finished 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors on NDS, and aside from the pseudo-science stuff I quite like the game. I'm a little sketchy about Ever 17 because of all the girls in that game, and I don't feel like having to deal with their personal problems as a part of the mystery. I played Ever 17, and I liked it alot. Well, at least I liked most of it alot. The last route was really great, its just that a few of the routes before that kinda get repetitive/uninteresting (I'm looking at you Sora). But the last one really makes up for it IMO.
Ah. I see. I'll give it a shot then.

But since you are a LN reader, maybe you can elaborate on why ayase would be the Senjougahara of OreImo(without spoiling too much)?
Gotta becareful putting tags like tsundere and yandere to characters before they are even developed. Too often I then see people complain about characters not behaving to the sterotype when it is just an assumption that they are indeed that type.
In the LN, Kyousuke sort of have a crash on Ayase (or rather, his initial image of Ayase and cannot get it out of his head). He's aware she's dangerous since the comicon event but can't help it
Ayase, is very adept at dealing with Kyousuke's type. She can switch between tease (probably not intentional and not helped by Kyousuke's wishful thinking) and blackmail in a split second.
Everytime you put Kyousuke and Ayase in one place, the former starts fantasising and the latter would remark quite off-handly something deadly or blackmail the male into submission and you get a great dynamic going. Some of the funniest chapters/one-offs were from this two.

Nemesis, to quote potchip, Ayase is the only non-one dimensional girl in oreimo because she's TOTALLY unpredictable. She's the only girl that's comfortable dealing with guys and Kyousuke is just a pawn in her hands, the ture 'queen' of the series (in LN that is, anime didn't really expand much yet)
She is pretty much the only one who can actually banter with Kyosuke. With jimiko you just get these zzz moments, with Kirino they barely have a conversation, Saori doesn't talk nearly as much as you'd expect her to, and Kuroneko talks but isn't at the level of Ayase. The author basically (probably accidentally) stumbled upon this intriguing mix of tsundere and yandere. These things basically make Senjyogahara what she is. Unpredictability and the ability to have conversations. It is really interesting to read Gahara-san's conversations with people since in general she will prepare multiple lines ahead for her gags, weird as they may be, or set up traps ahead of time, etc. As for unpredictability, I think that needs no elaboration.
As yandere became more of an established archetype I guess the unpredictability of some characters will become predictable, but until that point, it is one of the most convenient ways for a writer to toss readers some curveballs in a field filled with standard archetypes.
Everytime you put Kyousuke and Ayase in one place, the former starts fantasising and the latter would remark quite off-handly something deadly or blackmail the male into submission and you get a great dynamic going. Some of the funniest chapters/one-offs were from this two. Totally doesn't help that I get pixiv pics using their blackmail as forms of play. See this. I think it is important to remember how intelligent Ayase is and how in general she is prodding these reactions out of Kyosuke.
About Kirino though, she still randomly goes dere. Really randomly, really rarely, but it happens. That's why I still classify her as a tsundere, albeit with a really ambiguous set of motives instead of inability to express her feelings.

The only good part of the Haruhi chan anime is Yuki though.
Not that she isn't awesome or anything.

For some reason, I always Yuki was the cutest out of all of them. Haruhi and....whatever that other girl's name is...always pissed me off for some reason, with the latter being the more annoying and the former being occasionally attractive.

Since I haven't had a computer for a couple weeks I've only seen up to ep 7 of OreImo, but I actually don't mind Kirino. Is she really bad in 8 and 9?

Well, she's just an annoying moeblob. Good thing her older version doesn't suck so much. Haruhi herself can get pretty irritating at times, but she does have a few nice moments. I always thought it was kinda funny that Haruhi kinda stopped being a main character in the later novels. It's kinda like what happened to Index.
I like how nobody ever mentions Koizumi.

Haruhi and Index actually share pretty much the exact same problem. If they are involved, then it is something super super super major, but nothing like that can happen too often. Oops, can't get involved.
Koizumi isn't mentioned because he just gives bullshit explanations to everything after the affair.

Like Southlight and I still post in this thread, if someone says no I think we'd dare face TL moderation and outspam any disagreements over how awesome Rakkyo is.

Since neither of the above two posts were very descriptive (despite me letting Ecael do the honors )
I consider KnK one of the better novels written in any language. It has a nice combination of wonder, action, and deep, thought-provoking ponderings about the mind, body, and soul.
Like with LotR, though, the movies end up taking quite a few liberties, often because there's not enough material (movie 1) or because they don't want to have people blasting out speeches, no matter how profound or significant to the story they may be.
As a result, you'll end up with three bizarre movies (1, 6, and 7) that were borne out of, respectively, trying to make a movie out of a few pages, reducing a hugely significant "side" character to nothingness, and then finding that by removing these things they've diluted 7 from mediocre status (it was already less effective than 5/6 in the novels due to 5) to "really?" This finally results in the absence of the mind-blowing epilogue being un-noticeable, and it'll be interesting to see if any pure-film-watcher (as in, people who haven't read the novel) will even understand the point of it.
That said, if you're fan of the Nasu world (Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night), you'll definitely find it worth the watch (considering many hail it as his best work), and if you like some serious, often-times gruesome, and sometimes thought-provoking storytelling then you'll find it worth your while. You also probably will need to watch (and/or read) it a few times to pick up on a lot of the little details that lead to theorizing, speculation, etc.
Also, the main character is one of the most charismatic ever :3

Kara No Kyoukai is definitely worth watching.
Just stick it through the first movie and watch the rest. It will eventually make sense.

Hmmmm....new Anime?
