Anyone else watching ore no imouto? What are people's thought on it so far?
Kirino is such an annoying bitch -.- Kuroneko is awesome ^.^
I don't know if your too slow @ reading I would actaully recommend dubbed anime for you, or find a subber who has a style which fits your reading speed. If anyone has to pause every few seconds to read a line I feel sorry for you, and I would recommend you speed up your reading, unless english or whatever language the subtitles are in, is not your native language. If not just skim, because I skim a line, alt tab read a page of manga alt tab back to the anime next line, etc... unless the anime really interests me, or if its an action/fighting scene.

Here's to hoping Amagami SS ends like School Days! Yandere <3 Anyone who played the game don't spoil the Ayatsuji arc for us anime watchers =P. Possibly best arc but can't say with only 1 ep out so far... Well I think the last arc would be better than all the other arcs combined.

Kirino is getting more annoying with every episode
|
Kuroneko is sooo much better a character than Kirino. Kirino is so freaking 1 dimensional Tsundere, while Kuroneko actually has different moods. I think we might see a Kirino ---> Bro <----> Kuroneko love triangle. Kirino might fall in love with her brother after completing that eroge, while Kuroneko might have set up a date with him already ;; I just want that Kirino's friend in the mix (Ayase??, the other model that came to visit once) for the ultimate mayhem.
|
As a reader of the novels I feel like that Kirino isn't quite as one-dimensioned as most would suggest, and that it is really an excessive reaction to the whole thing of unsure feelings for her brother. But yeah, anime thus far hasn't given us much of any reasons to think otherwise.
Ayase would be brilliant to have, she is the Senjyogahara of OreImo, can't not have.
And really, the answer to the slow at reading part would just be learn to read faster. I know there are some people who prefer dubs over subs. I also think they are nuts.

I agree that the kirino hate is confusing at best to me...Yeh she's pretty one dimensional so far, but the light novel does expand on her a lot, more so because it is written in kyosukes POV. Also i really can't bring myself to hate her after the scene where she is singing along with mereru...It's just to much. Also it's her relationship with Kyosuke that makes it fun to watch IMO. Her character might be crummyish right now, but it's ok cause Kyosuke is freaken hilarious when they are in the same scene.
At the rate the episodes are going wait for Season 2, cause we know its coming. The story really picks up at volume 5, which is what im pretty sure this season is reaching at its end. Also if you are a fan of Kuroneko def watch the next season.
+ Show Spoiler +I'm more surprised they are hinting at Saoris ojousama nature already.

I tried watching Kimi no todoke but after 5 episodes...yeah. I got bored =/ Any recommendations? Here is a list of some of my favorite anime I am currently watching/watched so I hope some of you have recommendations that are similar + Show Spoiler +One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, D.Gray Man, Slam Dunk, Eyeshield 21, Dragonball Z, Great Teacher Onizuka etc I agree I have watched mostly mainstream ones but any new recommendations? And...I am a bit confused about Fullmetal Alchemist. I know there are many series but are they chronological in a sense that the story continues? And which one is the most favored out of them? Thanks.

Well I don't "hate" Kirino. She is just... boring and annoying. The eroge was right: Too much tsun, not enough dere. She can be really cute at times, but I dislike how she acts towards her brother (and other people in general). If she changes in later episodes/seasons/books, that's good.
It's different with Kuroneko. While I don't like the whole Maschera cosplay aspect of Kuroneko, she has shown a different, more interesting and gentle side on multiple occasions. I would guess that the whole angel of darkness-thing of her is just another mask to hide behind, just like Kirino hides her "perfect" life and Saori hides hers. I hope we get much more of the kind and caring Kuroneko, instead of endless Maschera impersonations in later episodes/seasons.
Since I haven't read the LN, I don't know. (Except for a few relationship spoilers.) If readers of the LN want to give more information, I don't mind. There are no translations that I know about, so it's hard to get otherwise.

Yeah I am surprised too, Saori's background got downplayed so much in the books till latest couple of vols.
As for too much tsun, I like this 9tsun1dere business, but that's just me. She isn't exactly a good tsundere anyway.

Watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It follows the manga in detail and until the very end. FMA (normal) follows the manga only up to a certain point, but ends differently (in a non-canon way).
Seems like your list consists mostly of action anime, and shounen at that. I think you might enjoy + Show Spoiler + Fairy Tail, Highschool of the Dead, Samurai 7, Ghost in the Shell: Standalone complex, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, Soul Eater, Death Note, Hunter x Hunter(?), Berserk, Claymore (I heard it's crap but haven't seen it), Durarara!!!, Gantz, Shaman King,
mmm I'm not good with anime =/ I've given you a list of popular manga rather, that I think got turned into decent animes. Other people here can give you a better list with other (better?) less known anime that weren't manga before.

Thanks for helping guys but I think I left something out. I have seen my share of 'non-mainstream' series which aren't famous like bakemonogatari but I wanted was some recommendations of non-mainstream anime series that somehow pertain to my interests. Thanks a lot anyways. :D

Bakemonogatari is mainstream by this point tbh, and that's coming from someone who loves the series.
On another note, I found Haruhi-chan vol 5 manga...

Nope, that's Haruhi.
It seems like Haruhi-chan has replaced the main series for me in terms of expectations

What is Haruhi-chan? I assume its another Haruhi spin-off, but I've never heard of it.

Total agreement there. Ayase is the only non-one dimensional girl in oreimo because she's TOTALLY unpredictable. She's the only girl that's comfortable dealing with guys and Kyousuke is just a pawn in her hands, the ture 'queen' of the series (in LN that is, anime didn't really expand much yet) On a side note, in the upcoming Oreimo game, Ayase route will be written by the author. He's the only one and whilst I'm not into VNs anymore, may take a look just to see the character this time round.
Kuroneko as a character was pretty much established since ep3, nothing new since. I attribute much of the Kuroneko love as the fallout of Kirino hate.
Kirino is just mis-understood. She's not necessarily a tsundere, because she simply doesn't show her feelings via dere. As long as viewer get used to the fact that Kirino shows her affection via tsun, it's all good. Besides her behaviour is the longest running gag of the show. Why would people want to have character development towards 'goodie-two-shoes' anyway?
Ep9 is neat as an anime original as you can read plenty from these scenes. Kirino was looking for 'guidance' from the eroge, by pretending to be Kyousuke (taking his likely choices). Didn't change the 100% tsun imouto's behaviour YET managed to get on her route anyway. Ironic much?

Has anyone played Ever 17?
Just finished 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors on NDS, and aside from the pseudo-science stuff I quite like the game. I'm a little sketchy about Ever 17 because of all the girls in that game, and I don't feel like having to deal with their personal problems as a part of the mystery.

And I really just can't stand dubbed(although that was how I was introduced to anime).

But since you are a LN reader, maybe you can elaborate on why ayase would be the Senjougahara of OreImo(without spoiling too much)?

The last route was really great, its just that a few of the routes before that kinda get repetitive/uninteresting (I'm looking at you Sora). But the last one really makes up for it IMO.
