Komachi actually got mad. That's a first. Almost seems out of character considering how she's portrayed throughout the rest of the series, but I guess this she knows what's up. Hachiman's attempted text was pretty cute. So socially awkward. New OP. Still rather underwhelming. At least it's not reused footage. RIP MAX Coffee. Bit of a hamfisted metaphor though. ![]() That subtle eye twitch. I fully approve. I didn't even recognize Haruno with that new design. Anyway, she was out in full force this ep. She knew all the buttons to push, and did so with gusto. The funny part is that it didn't seem particularly malicious. It felt more like general sadism. Hayato's change in expression was pretty cute. But then again, we already knew about this facade from last arc. The obvious solution as presented in this episode is for Yukinon to run for pres. She probably won't win though, because that would be a rather depressing arc end. Iroha's obviously got some shit going on too. Who knows what though.

Yip the movies and SAC are separate entities. You don't have to watch SAC to watch the movies as the movies were made without SAC even being a thing. SAC is better than both movies personally. I get where ragz_gt is coming from in saying that knowledge of SAC helps explain the movies better but that's merely doing things backwards. The movies should stand completely on their own and if they don't well then they failed to achieve what they wanted. I felt they were fine on their own as I watched both before SAC myself. Innocence liked being obtuse but it was still pretty straight forward in its plot.

I think it will be the others that help guide them to a resolution in some way. Their damn stubbornness and cynicism getting the best of them as usual!

I thought about watching Ninja Slayer but if it's really like that... On April 17 2015 12:15 ragz_gt wrote: That's what you get for watching out of order! Innocence and SSS movies are after events of both SAC seasons, so you skipped 50 ep of event, no wonder it makes no sense. But SAC are much better. All movies except first one are pretty meh. Uh? I basically read beforehand what most people are saying in this thread: SAC, the movies and Arise are all unrelated by plot. I also looked for a recommended order to watch. The internet told me it doesn't matter, my friend recommended me to watch the movies first. Since I also support watching shows/movies in the order they came to be, I thought watching the movies first was a good idea. And as said a few days ago, I thought the first GitS movie was great and I obviously didn't have any knowledge back then, either. Well anyways, I'm glad to hear that SAC is considered to be better than the movies. Guess I wil start with the first season pretty soon then.

The plots are not directly related, but Innocence and SSS assume you knows the world setting that was established in the franchise. Like you can watch Gundam Unicorn without watching any other UC series, but you will get much more out of it if you do. First movie is the very first release of the entire thing so of course you don't need any knowledge of it. On April 17 2015 15:16 WolfintheSheep wrote: The movies, Stand Alone Complex and Arise are completely unconnected with one another. That's like saying Unicorn and original Gundam are completely unconnected. And Arise is definitely connected, as Arise (character design aside) is direct prequel. Heck, the knock against Arise is that it's just Major runs around looking for section 9 members RPG style. It's the same F/Z F/SN argument, production order is usually best order, as later additions tends to assume prior knowledge.

It's the same F/Z F/SN argument, production order is usually best order, as later additions tends to assume prior knowledge. It is not a direct prequel. I'm not sure where you getting your information from honestly. Arise is a "reimagining" of Ghost in the Shell starting at how section 9 formed. It's not a prequel to the movies or SAC. Innocence is a direct sequel to the First movie and isn't related to SAC/SAC2/SSS. SSS is a direct sequel to SAC2. None of this is at all like F/Z to F/SN argument. These are 3 separate directors interpretations of Ghost in the Shell that are not connected. F/Z is a direct prequel to F/SN not a separate entity. The actual order is as follows: First Movie -> Innocence SAC -> SAC2 -> SSS Arise. Having prior knowledge may make certain aspects of each entity more enjoyable but that's a completely different story than saying they are connected. The only connection they share is that they are all interpretations of the original Ghost in the Shell manga.
