Arise is the first "spinoff" since SAC in 2005. Since the Arise OVAs they announced an Arise based TV series and a Movie which I think isn't based on the new Arise stuff. Solid State Society came out in 2006 which is a continuation of the SAC2 universe. GitS is the best cyperpunk sci-fi we got in visual media so it's understandable that people want to explore the universe more. Arise so far has been rather disappointing in that regard so we'll see how the series shapes up. Sci-fi unfortunately is largely just action based in western cinema which made GitS a welcome change of pace. | ||
