Yeah playing with MPC. but for some reason my MPC keep jumping 2-5sec regardless of what I press (small jump, frame skip, etc) May be some setting is wrong, gotta find out first.

You don't have to pause to read the 1 frames. Most of the time they just elaborate on the thoughts you just seen or they quotes from the novels, it's more of a mood thing. In the first ep they are a bit of backstory but it's so min that it just leaves you with more questions than answers. Just watch it normally then when you rewatch you can start pausing frames to read.
It's a show that's made to be rewatched so don't worry if you don't catch everything the first time. Just enjoy the ride.

Oh yeah I read that wrong. Well, nothing special really. It's often the same with books and movies. It's always like that unless the anime gets adapted 1:1. You could argue they should do that at least for the most important scenes, but maybe they are not willing to make such a long anime and plan to finish it in fewer episodes than that would take.

I am actually doing it the other way round haha, pause play first then rewatch in full without pausing. But probably after I manage to obtain the better version. Currently have the one by Coalgirls (not BD), and apparently opinions from the internet say it's a shitty version. Cant find any non-torrent Thora BD version yet.

we actually got in the discussion a couple weeks ago and found out that Coalgirls was the only (?) subgroup that translated a certain, important scene correctly while funimation/CR (and HS because of that) all got it completly wrong. So Coalgirls is perfectly fine and I think I got their release for Nisemonogatari as well?
There are 3 things important here:
First is that you like the typesetting style of the group in question because as you realized there's a lot of text. If the way they translate that (show japanes+english, only english, only translate important stuff or everything?) annoys you you'll have a bad time
Second, make sure you get the BD version, like you already said. Shaft is FAMOUS for redoing and improving a lot of things after their shows finished airing and Monogatari is no exception to that. The BD versions are far superior in most cases.
Third,, don't pick HS/funi/CR because as already mentioned, they confirmed to mess up with stock translation without thinking about what girl in question was actually saying...

Coalgirls and Commie are both fine subs. You should really get the 1080p BD though. Coalgirls just re-encodes but they generally use fine subs. You can do the whole pause thing but it does break up the flow so really suggest against it the first run through.
