So after stopped watching anime for a long time due to work and stuff, I decided to marathon a random anime, which I ended up with Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika, because the cover and art looks nice.
6 episodes in and oh my, this thing is dark. Like super dark psycho stuff. Despite having watched/read Mirai Nikki and NHK ni Youkoso! before. But Madoka is loli and dark, it feels even more psycho T_T. And that Kyuubey cat that grand wishes, wtf does it even think, explaining crazy psycho stuff like some kids' bedtime story.
Will it get better as it progress? I am consider whether to continue with it or go watch something else crazy and fun instead. you should do yourself a favour and watch the rest lol. The anime doesn't really let up in terms of the darkness aspect and the ending as mentioned was ok. Nothing spectacular but it works. Seeing as its only one cour, 6 more is not much imo

The ending is a deus ex ending, and while it was airing, IIRC th ending was the biggest complaint about the show.

Funny you mention it... that's kinda the reason my friends won't watch horror movies with me, as they say I have the creepiest smile during it (not that I'm aware).

Annoying cat should have died first ep and story ends there qq
You're pretty close to the truth! He's quite persistent, isn't he. Keep watching. And once you're done with the 12 episodes of the TV series, don't neglect to watch the third Madoka movie, Rebellion. It continues where the TV series leaves off.

Talking about deus ex is a bit problematic when it's about magic where about anything can be done though. It wasn't surprising and you already saw it in episode 1 and with everything happning it was leading up to that point for 11 episode or so. So it's certainly not one of those out of the hat endings, neither does it fix everything. I know that's not the meaning of deus ex but those 3 things usually come hand in hand while the actual stuff that happens... I don't think you can complain about that in that setting lol.
The ending from Rebellion on the other hand was a complete deus ex and A LOT of people complained about that...
Wasn't the ending of the original series like half a year after the series finished on TV or something like that? So maybe that's it?

The problem is that within in the logic of the world it didn't seem deus ex enough.

they tried that with rebellion and you saw how that crashed and burned (not in money related things but how people thought about it afterwards). That was a million times more deus ex than the original series and that Rebellion ending was shit. Still the most glorious 1:30h of animu orwhatever it was before the ending, probably didn't even mind it while watching but after a day or two you really realized wtf that was.
But I get what you're saying I remember what you wrote about it when you watched it.

I actually haven't watched rebellion yet lol, didn't like the series enough to care (only reason I have it on my to watch list is because of tladt recommending it). I will get to it eventually.

it does look absolutely gorgeous, even better than the BD version / movies 1+2. But the series was a lot better so if you didn't like that one all that much, you're probably better of skipping it.
wasn't there someone who said that they made the pistol fight in SAO-2 stupid and someone answered with something along the lines of "duh, you can't make a fight with firearms look epic"
+ Show Spoiler [youtube in here] +
guess magic and infinite doublejumps midair helps

It doesn't fix "all" the problems, but Homura being left as a lonely lesbian is hardly a problem that the series actually presented. The the shit shown in the epilogue that Homura was fighting, now THAT was shit that came literally out of no where, and just lead to milking.
Obligatory "how can you call Madoka 'absolutely gorgeous' when you call One Piece eye-cancer?"

+ Show Spoiler +she solved 1 problem, arguably the biggest one but sayaka for example still went through everything that was shown in the series (well, maybe not everything), she still died and she still suffered the same way she did before and the stuff with the violin-boy still happened (actually, maybe a little less dark that wasn't shown but it certainly still happened). Homura being left is kind of a thing considering that she is the maincharacter of the series... and well Madoka has been a plot device ever since episode 1. That's the point of the entire show... She hasn't done anything in the series EVER except for just "being there", thus homura really is the MC and not madoka

the 'unexpected' darkness of madoka was what made it such a great anime for me otherwise it was pretty run of the mill

Finished reading Spotted Flower, is Hato supposed to be an actual girl in this alternate setting? That being said It was a good read. I kind of like Kasukabe and Madarame setting more than with Kohsaka. Maybe it's because you don't really delve into his character much. He's just good at everything so it is sort of boring.
Batoto doesn't seem to have Genshiken translated only Nidaime. Anyone know where I can look up Ogiue x Sasahara arc? A site that does one long panel is most preferable.
|
I never read Genshiken but the wife's comment when he came home after meeting suggests that Hato is male.

Too bad there isn't enough high school life in Aldnoah Zero, otherwise it would be aots.

I gotta say it again, Haikyuu is just the perfect sports anime: cool lines, cool characters, cool sport "gimmicks", decent animation, good music. Great pace too, no excessive bullet time slow motion and super dragging flashbacks. If you like sports series and passed on Haikyuu because volleyball is lame (:D), just trust me and watch it.

reading F/SN now, and it's pretty good so far. do you guys recommend finishing the whole VN then watching F/Z or what's the best order of doing things?
