If a show is shit, it doesn't matter to me if its mecha or not. While I am a huge fan of the genre, there are also plenty mecha anime that have earned my hate. In the same way, I'm perfectly capable of enjoying a mecha anime, even if the mecha part is lacking. I can see arguments made for NGE, TTGL, Code Geass, and Gundam SEED as being better than Aldnoah Zero, despite not being too much of a fan of half of them. In fact, I actually like half of those just mentioned. But Gundam SEED Destiny, as having better character work, and original mecha designs? Come on. Do we really need to go into how GSD is overflowing from stuff pulled straight out of SEED, 0079, or Zeta? And Hirai's character work in GSD was particularly bad, especially compared to some of his earlier stuff (like Scryed or Ryvius), or even more recent work in MJP. I won't sit here and try to compare it to any of those anime you just mentioned, seeing as how they are some of the most popular, warranted or not, mecha anime in recent history. Right now, I just think Aldnoah Zero is averagish, and need to see more before I get a good idea where exactly the show is headed. Granted, I said that after episode 1 as well, but we will see. Its at least better than Buddy Complex at this point. But anyway, I don't think that being worse than those mentioned in those various categories makes a show bad. While I think its fine for you to critique Aldnoah Zero, say you don't like it, say you don't like it as a mecha fan, etc etc, my main issue is the broad statement that "any mecha fan should simply discard it", since that is implying that any mecha fan should use your criteria to judge, or share your taste. | ||

Color scheme of the 3 can't help but make me think of the Getter Team. I haven't paid enough attention to know if actually information on the characters has been released. But we have the Build Burning Gundam (which I suppose sounds better than Build God Gundam), Lightning Gundam which is based on the Re-GZ, and the Winning Gundam, which is an SD Gundam that I can't quiet put my finger on, for what it actually is an SD of. So looks like even more punching is in store, and this time its flaming punches. And looks like Bandai will be robbing me blind, yet again. | ||

Well, that's only normal I guess. My opinions on this topic is biased as hell because I pretty much discounted the entirety of FSN after having read Muramasa. So with the direction of FSN being outdone by something else, FHA having the sole purpose of introducing Caren and Zero covering somewhat different grounds. Fate Ilya ends up being the fresh take on the Fate part of Nasuverse that actually impresses me. The unspoken part of the bias is that I just hate the popularity of Fate series when all I want to see from Nasu is mahoyo 2 and 3 and Tsukihime 2~ Oh there are the fate/extra games too, but let's ignore those. Chiwa Saitou caster was win though. There is also Apocrypha at 3 vols and growing, really need to stop being lazy about reading that.
