I start out in some MLA briefing screen, where some chick is telling me to do stuff. I have almost no clue wtf she is saying. I imagine that shes telling me that I'm about to die. Then pictures of Little Red Fuckers, Grapplers, and Team Courage start showing up, and I hear the word 'program', so I think this is just a simulation battle or some shit. Which is consistent with my memory, since I remember this battle being boring.


Objective: Kill everything. Losing Condition: Die. Simple enough.



Here we go! Grid-based strategic battle, with giant penis aliens and giant robots! I have 3 groups of TSFs, F-4J Gekishits, vs a lot of BETA.


So this is all turn based strategy. Its my turn, my guys have move points, and a bunch of other numbers and japanese letters and shit, IDK. Clearly, Japanese itself is a bigger foe than the BETA. I'm assuming the "M" is move, "A" attack, "F" fly, "R" reload, and B "..." IDK. I figured out how to change whats equipped too, sinc eI can read numbers. So I move a dude up, and I change to the cool 120mm Cannon!


And it shows my firing arc, and what I can hit.... I'm gonna shoot that Destroyer Class!



Pew Pew Pew, get fucked Destroyer Class!! So pretty much every attack in this game is accompanied by a MLA sprite animation, like from the VN.


...I killed two. Fuck. Apparently not a good idea to shoot Destroyer Class in the face.


I move the other two guys up too. At this point, I realize that each unit has their own sprite and shit.


WTF BETA so fast! Almost all on my shit! But... They have no Laser Class. Earlier, I wasted Ammo on that Destroyer Class, because I forgot Captain Isumi's lecture. But now I remember it..


No Lasers means I can fly and rape them! Heres hoping the edge of the screen isn't just Fog of War, and there really aren't any Laser Class here to kill me.


Yay, flying! I can even fly above them!


And I get good firing arcs at a ton of them. According to Wiki, the more circles on a target, the better the shot.


Go Gekishit! This guy is piloted by some dude who looks old. Hes now Tonight, since Tonight is old.



Tonight killed a lot of Little Red Fuckers! The 36mm is pretty good against them.


Now my other dude is attacking... This guy is lame. Some little feminine shitter.



All that and only kills 3 Grapplers? This guy sucks. He gets to be Toad.


And apparently this dude is my main dude. Looks kind of like Takeru.


And the main dude is a god! Killed all of them! He can be Echo. So I've arbitrarily named my 3 dudes. Time to get on with the battle, but after this, flying just proves how OP it is.

So this is an absolute slaughter. The BETA simply can't hit me, and I'm flying above them shooting them. As a note, all the small kill shots were by Toad.


So there are only a few left, so I switch Echo to swords, cuz I gotta finish them off with swords. But... Apparently I can't melee in the air. Huh.



All thats left are the Team Courage BETA... And holy shit, they won't die. I tried the 120mm cannon to their back (by Toad, which may explain the small kill count), and Tonight unloaded the 36mm on the back of another... Killing absolutely nothing!



Next turn, I try swords! Go Tonight! Slice them up! They have your their back turned to you!


It... actually did much more than guns did. I guess I need to surround and stab them to death. Also, I send Toad off to the other side of the map, and make him land over there. My goal is to use him as bait. Since the BETA can attack him if hes on the ground, they will run up to him, and show me more of their delicious back.


More stabbing, more kills. I guess guns suck vs Destroyer Class, and I gotta use melee on them.


So, they apparently don't take the Toad bait, and instead just start trying to slowly turn towards Tonight. And if they do face him, Tonight is fucked. So I fly Echo around and over to their other flank...


Uhoh. Echo ran out of fuel, apparently. Not more flying. Now, if there was still a swarm of BETA here, that might be a problem... But fortunately, this mission is easy. Only Destroyers left, with their backs turned to me.


So, I start playing "run around the buildings" with swords and Destroyer Class BETA, slowly chopping them up. Finally, they turn their backs to where Toad was... And I finally see a use for him! I have Toad run up, and start spraying them in their back. You know, maybe the first time the 36mm didn't work, it was because of a miss or some shit. It SHOULD work.


And it does. Toad actually makes himself useful, and takes down a Destroyer Class pack.


And the last pack is easily cut up. Mission complete.


And the stats window. Apparently Toad actually was a huge shitter, but got a bit better. Everyone improved a bit.
