LOL now that I think about it, there was that one arc in S1 where the evil "Imouto City" producers were planning to go against Kirino's vision for the series, making her break-down completely. Oh the irony.

People were hoping for a Kyuuseke + Kirino ending, or
that it was a cheap trick story-wise to not let the viewer in on the secret until the end, or
that people felt that it didn't make logical sense for them to knowingly throw all their good relationships away for something that won't last?

It's a combination of Oreimo more popular so everything is louder, Kirino sucks, and people who like "wincest! wincest"! rages when it actually comes true.
