Have you seen how the Gods were destroyed in the final duel of the first season. Think the season with the bikes had even more stupid OP stuff.

On May 17 2014 07:55 Ecael wrote: Eh, nationalism might've been a misleading word to use, but setting wise, the Japanese-centric worldview is a common trend with first the manga medium, then the otaku culture in general. The point is that the setting for the series is a caricature of the real world with very specific slants for the targeted audience. While in rettousei's case, Japan is not portrayed as a saintly nation that upholds honor and righteousness. It is kept around with random plot devices as to explain why the series takes place in it when the answer is as simple as that it was written for Japanese people. Even accounting for that, a certain level of nationalism is present. The situation being described in rettousei isn't a reflection of how the world is today, but a project that the audience can easily relate to. Similar to how, randomly, in Alicization for SAO the bad guys turned out to be from Chinese and Korean servers, with some Americans mixed in. It reflects a particularly narrow and warped view of the world, one that you would see among the nationalist netizen spams on 2ch. Oh right, I am going to assume GAA is that China+Korea entity because I can't be arsed to remember nation names in the series in another language. How GAA got to the state that they are in now doesn't particularly matter, you could attach all sorts of explanations in the series for the tongue-in-cheek poke at the state of that nation, the intent of the author for that is fairly obvious given the audience. If you should take the cause of the downfall of that nation seriously, it only gets more hilarious because it is perpetrated by a single house of the mighty Japan. So how does any of this reflect what you call good politics? Pandering to the readers to give them situations that they can easily relate to isn't really a problem, but it is hardly what you could call good either. Just because people die in acts of national interests doesn't make the interaction between nations any less juvenile. Even the situation within Japan itself is easily boiled down to a fake class struggle that is backed by foreign interests. Again, the kind of conspiracy theory that 2ch vippers love to eat up. I am not simplifying anything to Clarke's law. Yeah I could've done without that Clarke quote but I thought it was something to show for people's fascination of mixing technology and magic. The magic system of rettousei was fine and definitely one of the draws for readers early on. It was a cute bit of lore, even if not particularly original, but it never really took off on its own. The system is elaborated pretty much purely to explain why Tatsuya is god and for no other reason. You know, the kind of chuu2 shit with kids imagining up settings for their Marty Stu. Loopholes? Yes. When something applies to literally every other character in the series except for this one, where [insert random reason] is used to justify it. That's a loophole. If author actually stuck in the Hindu mythology reference in at some point then I feel even more justified for not putting up with more of the pain that is this series to bash on it properly. From what my brain retained up to around that American special force captain arc, there was minimal myth references. It is one thing if such references are planned in advance, but I saw zero signs of it in the early parts of the series. If that's your interpretation of the two's relationship, then I have nothing to say on that matter. You realize the source was in webnovel format, chapter by chapter, with plenty of time for the guy to reflect to cater to reader preferences as much as he wants, right? You also realize that male characters are introduced one to two vols ahead, with minimal descriptions about them, to be fleshed in when they are needed to be paired with a girl, right? Well, that's probably more subjective than I would like to admit, so I will just have to ask you to wait until we are through with the anime and have people talk about how they felt on the matter. If you want to stick only to the source when that happens, that's fine too, but I suspect there won't be many other than ragz who has the heart to work through that series. There isn't much to take from source to argue line by line except how characters should be shipped, and unlike what you seem to think, I don't actually care about the ship since the only character that I did like is still getting page space from what I heard, so...well, I could waste time going on about how hard the author is playing up the fake? incest, but if you don't think that it is going to happen after all that has happened in like, the first 7 vols, I doubt I can convince you other I don't have much to say here so I'll get straight to the point. If you mean good politics as in realistic politics, I don't believe politics is so simple that you can put it in fiction. Mahouka politics = fun politics A light novel doesn't get to become the #2(SAO) or #3(Mahouka) best selling in 2013 by only appealing to 2ch. The myth references are there and pretty blatent. Parvarti in Chinese/japanese is translated to snow queen or ice queen. Mahesvara + demon right + divine left = god of destruction and the creator. Shiva uses a trident. There are many scenes that parallel the Shiva/parvarti story and its likely you won't see the references if you didn't know them to begin with(the ones I listed are the more obvious ones). There are also other mythical references in the series, Lina being a mix of a Celtic hero and the hindu god Kali. Im not waiting for the anime to end so people will discuss it. Volume 1-8 doesn't even get to the overarching plot of the series and really just acts as an introduction. i believe the plot begins moving starting from vol 9. Its literally the longest introduction in a series that I have seen. With the anime covering volume 1-7 (allegedly), there will be a lot of eye candy but people are gonna be confused as fuck wondering what the hell was the point of all that. Now just remember Madhouse butchering it so far, and my expectations have already gone down the drain. I just hope its a decent anime, as its not even a good adaption. With dengeki bunko pressure + word in the afterwords, Satou said that he's not gonna take it that far (in reference to actual incest) I'm well aware that Mahouka started as a webnovel. A very popular one as well. Now I need to rage because Mushishi and Sidonia sub's aren't out yet and don't want to continue this any longer.

Given how light novel sales spikes hard enough with anime as well as the pathetic state of the Japanese publishing industry, I'd have to say no, you do make quite a fair bit with just throwing in baits. The rest just comes down to how easy the stuff is to read for the masses. Can't even really look at awards as a sign of anything considering how publishers routinely have random awards as a part of their advertising scheme. Oh, those were meant to be mythological references? They are so overused in the industry that I simply disregarded them. If that was the intention though, it does explain that heavyhanded use of rubi. Still exactly how one would write something catered for chuu2 though and hurts just as much to read. lol 8 vol introduction. Let's see how fan opinions are across the sea at the end of all this. I already highly doubt that the response will be anything like yours other than from some specific vippers. Dengeki made him pussy out? lol. If we go by that hindu myth line, iirc eventually Parvarti and Shiva does wed. Why shy out of it? Playing up the pseudo incest and then caving to publisher pressure is honestly fairly laughable. This is actually fairly enlightening to me, because I've wondered why there was a small part of the following for rettousei that was basically cultish. A good reminder to how chuu2 style and otaku preferences basically come hand in hand.

+ Show Spoiler + Not as godly as how episode 17 portrayed the manga but still good nontheless. Just disappointed since this was my favorite out of all nisekoi mini stories. Kirisaki so obvious .. and kosaki is a tryhard like EE :D If only raku wasn't stupid when every girl is YOLOING on him.

At least the loli detective is amusing. As far as I'm concerned, she's been carrying the show thus far. Nanana is ok too, but I still suspect this is largely because of lack of appearances.

And I start to understand the situation ![]() + Show Spoiler [guesswork] + So Ene died and the genius-programmer-teacher "made" her? And MC + girl with a shawl were a couple and Ene + ... I forgot his name... were a couple or about to be a couple as well? And at least Ene knows about Kido and Kano. Not sure from the other side but why didn't she say a thing? Or do both parties remember and it was left out? But I'm fairly sure the first line in this spoiler is how this went down so far. The girl with a shawl is dead as well as we know from episode 05, so something happened, right?
