Nanana ep 4 was a clusterfuck. As far as I'm concerned, the mc is Touma without the punching bit. In other words, pretty shit. Loli detective has some amusing parts at least, even if her genius is all handwaving by the author. The only other character I'm still ok with is Nanana herself, and I wonder how much of that is due to lack of screentime.
Kind of agree with you on Ping Pong. I'm wondering how much longer I can appreciate the story, soundtrack, and the ending before I can't take the visuals for much longer. At times the guy who's directing Ping Pong (who also made Kaiba, Kemonuzume, and Mind Game) feels like he's just using really poorly drawn art to appear different and sophisticated. It definitely felt that way with Kaiba. :/
I wish he would bring back the guy who did the character designs for Tatami Galaxy with him, because for once the character designs in his anime, at the very least, looked really clean and almost beautiful in a simple kind of way. It's a shame that Tatami Galaxy was really the only notable work that he did art for in anime. Was really hoping there was more (edit: though I did look up his art a few days ago and a lot of it looked the same, so there's that).

Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou 05:
Idk, I keep thinking this show gets better every episode while watching and still I end up thinking it's nothing special 2 days later. Just watched the episode and really enjoyed it. A lot. But except for the obvious scenes I can't even remember what it was about. Maybe it's not as bad as I made it out to be yesterday? But on the other hand I'd never rewatch even a single episode and when I think about it all that comes to my mind is it being boring... but it was a fun watch while watching...
[11:11:45] <Toad|> that bokura wa minna kaiwaisou OP [and ED] is the best thing the show has to offer [11:13:09] <Darth_> idk toad [11:13:15] <Darth_> that one girl is so toxic [11:13:30] <gAOxI> that whole show seems toxic [11:13:31] <gAOxI> as fuck [11:13:31] <gAOxI> so [11:13:32] <gAOxI> idk [11:13:41] <Toad|> that's why the OP is the best thing the show has to offer [11:13:54] <gAOxI> i remember the OP being toxic as a motherfucker Don't think I'd put it this way again right now. But I'm also pretty sure I'll think like that next week before watching next episode lol ... weird show
I probably have figured out the ultimate strategy to enjoy anime that aren't particularly your thing: Focus on the bad parts ep1, try to manifest a negative image of it as much as possible but you can't drop something after just 1 episode right? Got to give it a 2nd chance so you go ahead and watch episode 2 and you're all like "wait, this shit was worse last week, wasn't it? Maybe it gets even better next week!" and you'll enjoy the small parts you like. I'm a genius

That speech in NGNL felt like it lasted an eternity!!!!!!!!!
This week's Sidonia : Nice episode, felt too short
Episode 13 of Lelouch : Nice, the MC finally get to see the consequences of his actions

Xen, its probably easiest for most poeple to know what you are talking about, if you call it "Code Geass".
And the actual "ultimate strategy" for enjoying anime is to have no expectations, and to zero on on anything, not matter how small, that you do like. Focusing on bad parts and hoping that it somehow makes you like it more is borderline insane.

I thought that was the normal strategy...

its a general rule in my life to expect nothing from things, that way the chances of a pleasant surprise is pretty high.

To have no expectations is to have no taste!!!
More seriously, sometimes, I don't have expectations, sometimes I do. And expectations can appear because of the first episodes, because of the show's summary... For example, the first few episodes of Kill la Kill were mind blowing crazy. So obviously, you have some expectations for the next episodes right? And then it turned out to be a repeating anime, so obviously you are unhappy.

expectations are molded by experiences, my natural taste originally left me with bad expectations and therefore removed expectations from the equation to expand my taste.
also you forget, that I need only to watch the first episode, because I don't drop the things I read/watch regardless of how it gets all the way to the end.

I can't seem to join it on TL's webirc or rather it doesn't exist and treats it as if I'm hosting a temp channel called #tladt

I'm not sure what to think of Blade & Soul, I might drop it... First episode I thought was promising, but by now it feels kinda lame imo.
