Means you get your books within 5 days or so though! Final edit: Back then, I did google something along the lines of "how to order from amazon.jp" to make sure I get the registration correct and found a handy guide on it all in all so that even someone who can't speak japanese would have been able to pull it off. I don't have the link anymore though. If there's any questions, feel free to pm me. Wouldn't mind making some screens or pictures from the books if you want to know what they look like I got dvds and stuff from amazon.jp, I just used a proxy to do it with. Default amazon international shipping is indeed $20 though. You know, instead of buying, you can just get scans and txt if you really just want to practice reading lol.
Thanks Toadesstern! I've been browsing amazon.jp, and actually came across that very guide to buying stuff from amazon.jp. Just wanted to hear if anyone else has tried buying through amazon.jp before I pulled the trigger. I'll probably look to get a couple of the monogatari light novels when my finals end.
You're right in terms of finding better ways to practice reading. Hell, the monogatari series is probably a bit too advanced for me as I've only been studying Japanese for half a year. But I'm a super huge fan of the monogatari series anime and would like to have the light novels as something to collect.

Finished White Album 2 after a long break //semi-spoilers inside.// + Show Spoiler +First few eps till school fair were kinda meh but then when it went down the hill it began to be interesting. That was the first time I watched something like this and is it just me or it ended in a sorta "bad ending" sice kazusa left the city. The most impact was opening of the 13th episode, they didnt give a single f*ck IMO, wasnt expecting that at all thats thy I find it a good move. Music well choosen adds to the whole love triangle thing, animation is good nothing out of the ordinary and it has the style of the older animes (look at hair). Thats coming out of someone who didnt see/play the VN. A good series to watch if u'll bear the first few episodes that are slow.

But I'm a super huge fan of the monogatari series anime and would like to have the light novels as something to collect. yeah was the same for me too. If you've really only learned for half a year yourself you really won't understand a thing. It is a bitch to read. No problem in having 2 or 3 in your bookshelf as motivation because you want to read them though. I'd just add something else to the shoppinglist as well, something a bit easier if you're already paying the 20$ + Show Spoiler +Think books for children, as in books for pre-school kids or elementaryschool kids if you're only half a year in, or manga if you want something along the lines of anime. I don't know how far you are but I'd be very suprised if you'd be able to read monogatari after half a year and if you are I want you to come back and tell me how you achieved that lol. At that point in time I was able to point at things say that I want or don't want them, use -masu, probably adjectives in past tense and some 100 kanji (read only at that point in time). I mean I'm pretty sure I saw the guy write out もちろん in kanji on page 1 of bakemonogatari and I was instantly like "fuck this. I'll try again next year on Christmas"
the reason I mentioned amazon.jp is because it's trustworthy btw. It's amazon and you know there won't be any shenanigans with creditcard or whatever. I'm always a bit restless when trying to order something via random googled online store that looks like a 1man project...

Also holy crap that mekaku city episode 4 rage...
Seriously? So we finally understood what it's about in episode 3 with everything coming together,+ Show Spoiler + MC is on the ground unconcious, his sister sees him and yells out for him because he's on the ground, but the scary part is over. All in all major cliffhanger after episode 3 because you'd except next episode to start with them getting together and explaining what happened, right? Guess what, episode 4 is something entirely different... and still no Ene
Mahouka started to be more stupid in a less hilarious way imo. Idk, the episodes so far made me laugh really badly. The most recent one not so much.
Nisekoi 17 was amazing. Nothing else to say about that.

I love the pace and the art of Mushishi s2. It´s like the good ol days of grandpa saying lay down boy at the fireplace and listen to my story.. Just wonderfull.
|
Yep each story is self contained, but so good. And the little bits you pick up about Ginko here and there just adds so much as well.
|
I have to say Im enjoying Mushishi a lot too. Ill have to finish S1 as soon as the current season finishes airing though.

Thanks for the recs guys, they all look fun.
I think I will do Witchcraft Works next. I already marathoned Free!
+ Show Spoiler +Cute *boys* doing cute things? What. Since when did that sell? Cliched/annoying characters, simplistic storyline, standard bromance, high school sports... Nothing new here.
I liked it. Also Kou was adorable. Love that seiyu. Ojamashimasu...

That rec was half-troll. But glad you somewhat enjoyed it. I honestly did, at least.

Just watched the first 4 eps of Sidonia. It's quite good

The puns aren't particularly hard either even if they are mostly kanji based stuff. A bitch to translate though.

The 3d art is just too strange, it doesn t rly add up with the misticity of the manga. By the same autor (tsutomu hitei) I rly recommend reading the manga Blame. For me it is the best manga I have ever read, I still dream of it, a grand and logical universe, a long and unknown journey, truly a master piece.

2nd Worst City in CA8938 Posts
So this week I decided to watch Season 1 of Oreimo, including the specials, because I fell in love with the OP (dat ClariS).
It wasn't what I expected. I expected something more along the lines of Nogizaka Haruka but with the heroine being some Nonaka Ai-esque spunky cutey judging from the MAL pic. Man was I wrong. "Don't judge a book by its cover" has never rang truer.
It's shows like these that makes me wonder why Japanese otaku are so damn M to enjoy something like this. The sister is Queen Bitch of Fucking Bitchland and it's not even an interesting kind of bitchy.
However, the show was not a total lost cause. All the scenes without the sister range from decent to quite good. Episode 6, where Kyousuke went to Manami's house, was great. The little bro was awesome. The grandpa was a bro. It was good times. Akagi-imouto is also a great character. Reminds me of Rika from haganai. Having Nakamura Yuuichi as the MC salvaged the show a bit, since his broness makes Kyousuke a lot more tolerable.
+ Show Spoiler +Too bad Kirino didn't stay in America. That whole scene with Kyousuke convincing her to come back was cringeworthy.
Overall I'm giving it a 6/10 since the scenes without Kirino were actually worth watching.
