You can read the novels, which I think is translated. The series is a pretty literal adaptation of the novel (except Boukyaku Rokuon), but it obviously has more details and might be easier to track everything when reading.
Watch anime and be confused because of lack of details, read novel and be confused because too much details.
I don't think you need to read the novels. Being confused at the start doesn't really detract from the awesomeness and you start to get the picture later on anyway. Maybe not all the details but enough to enjoy it
Golden Time continues to sloppily handle the whole memory loss thing, with one scene not even making sense at all unless its supposed to be meant in a meta kind of way. Overall it was solid but the writing really fumbled the handling of his memory loss and how the MC dealt with it.
@Requizen Right?! Damn it takes a while lol...well these games are pretty damn creative, so author needs to do research or think it up... as well as translators just tossing it and picking the project up lol.
