I got someone into listening to J-pop because of it. After playing inhouse poker with my friends we went to McD by car, I had my nerd-CD still in, turned car on and it was playing kiminoshiranaimonogatari. When I realized that after a couple seconds I went "oooh sorry, you guys don't listen to that kind of stuff, let's listen to radio instead" and one said he doesn't give a crap, so I kept it on because I said that that one is actually decent and after that I got asked if I could lend them my HDD. Think I just linked the j-pop thread on TL

I always had like soundtracks in my car.....usually not anime soundtracks, but if they were...back then it'd be really mainstream stuff. It was also nice that a lot of my friends had some anime exposure so they could recognize the mainstream stuff easily.
Also, I usually just drove Popo around and we usually liked the same music.

What company was it?
My 2012 snow miku nendo got delayed for forever, first regular delays, their their stock was damage, then another production run, then more delays, then parts damage, then they gave up and just shipped out shit and then threw in more parts afterwards.

From my experience, people generally won't care if you are interested in things out of the ordinary, as long as you aren't obsessive and creepy about it. If you appear cool and confident, people won't care; they may even respect you. And if people look down on you for your interests, then they aren't worth your time anyway.
I used to be afraid of people finding out that I like anime, but I've been surprised with the results after casually admitting it (provided that it fits into the context of course). Other people around me liked anime as well, and they were also afraid to admit it.
I've only met one other person that also watched currently airing animes though. Most of the people that I've met have just seen popular stuff like Pokemon/DBZ, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, etc., and if they've seen new animes it's mainly Sword Art Online, Attack on Titan, and other animes that you'd see on Toonami.
