If I like the description I add it to my MAL plan to watch list. No idea how much that happens but I usually end up with 3-5 shows a season that way. 2) After that I check out every 1st episode of stuff that ended up making me read the description but didn't get on my plan to watch list to make sure and I usually find stuff that I sacked earlier to be entertaining. I'm usually around 7-8 shows I'm fairly interested around now. 3) After that I end up watching 1st episodes around week 3 of stuff that other people said to be decent that I have not paid any attention to yet but that's usually not that much. IRC's great for that. 3.5) Sometimes I add stuff simply based on genre because of a "gosh haven't seen something like that in a while" like when Blood lad was about to be aired I added it to my plan to watch simply because the description said something about vampires and I haven't seens anything vampire related in a while. Still haven't watched it because I have strike the blood right now ![]() It is a very emnjay-esque system on first glance but it works decently.

Srsly you would have missed out on Log Horizon and on Monogatari that way and a crapton of other stuff that I don't want to put in the same sentence as those two examples that still ended up being good though.

I know next to nothing about Monogatari, so I never really watched a single episode, no particular reason. Somebody told me Log Horizon was kind of similar to SAO with the whole MMO theme which I like, so I watched it and I liked it. Regardless of stuff being any of those things I really dislike if it's actually good it will reach me eventually. The ANN previews really help as well, I find myself agreeing with some of the writers there, that's where I found out about Silver Spoon.

<EchOne> mfw <EchOne> Fm-Kun shall we critically dissect your statement? <Fm-Kun> ohh those people make me so mad Passive people that uhhh word things in a way that uhh can piss me off <Fm-Kun> how? <Fm-Kun> dissect it OK so you say "im pretty sure". That means the following statement is true almost certainly according to you. OK. Then you seem to connect 2 things causally. "laying on your back lowers your mental capacity" Sure. Laying on your back is pretty easily understood, but what is mental capacity? How many calculations you can do? How many numbers you can memorize? You're pretty sure it gets lowered... the fact that you "know" a lowering occurs implies you have a metric for whatever mental capacity is. How exactly do you measure mental capacity? Next: "your a little drowsy" drowsy implies a sleep-readiness state. OK, a sleep-readiness state affecting the mind is credible. Still dunno what "mental capacity" is. "little" is also completely imprecise when talking about a feeling and a physiological state. Also, you're not providing the key connection of: why exactly does laying on your back make you drowsy? Ferrose earlier gave us a hypothesis on that, specifically dealing with beds. Thing is, not all circumstances where you lay on your back are identical to lying down in bed. You could lay on your back, about to go down a waterslide. You could lay on your back to avoid a 16-wheeler beheading you on the highway like in some action movie. Finally "you can't sense it" is fairly contradictory since drowsiness is something you feel. You might've meant that you can't sense your reduction in "mental capacity" though.

I like the approach they took which was different from Log Horizon. Kirito and Asuna made such a lovely couple imo and the way they grew to love each other was pretty slow and steady. The first part had exactly what I thought and hoped it would have. A wide variety of characters, interesting bosses, plenty of fights etc... The story was also explained clearly from the start and while saddening, the anime wasn't afraid to kill off some characters. Sachi ;_; Part 2 seems a bit odd though. Mostly how he managed to trap her in game and such. Also, the game being about faeries and all lol. Having said that, the way this new MMO was based on SAO with some minor changes and such and that lead to Kirito maintaining his stats was interesting. You have no clue how much I was waiting for Kirito and Leafa to find out they are related to see how it gets handled so it was nice to see them not avoid it when it becomes obvious. They could've possibly used a couple more episodes to give us a better view of Alfheim Online but on second thought, it might've been excessive. I also liked that they actually had Kirito and Sugo have a final showdown and that Kirito didn't drop to Sugo's level and instead left him alive and went to see Asuna. Also, I was really glad that Yui wasn't forgotten about and came back to reunite wit Kirito and Asuna. Showing them surviving and being together after all the trouble they had was heartwarming ![]() I'm excited for SAO II! :D On January 02 2014 12:01 elt wrote: I'm just going to do what I did last season and that was pick up the shows that got most traffic here, but I was wondering how do you guys go about picking stuff to watch? By studio/source? I go on several things: 1) I consider the genres I like. Usually action, romcom and mech are the ones I'm interested in although action is quite broad. 2) I read the summary of the anime and skim an episode to see how it looks, how the characters sound and if it's something that I may enjoy. The more interesting the summary, the more likely I'll watch it. 3) I also consider recommendations and that just adds more points to an anime if it's recommended. Basically, it's a specific genre with an intriguing story(or the like) and is recommended ![]() On January 02 2014 13:40 tonight wrote: I usually give everything that even seems a little bit interesting then slowly drop everything that I cannot stand. this as well lol.
