If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

Just caught up to Machine-Doll. After the first two eps (especially the first ep) I was like, "Oh man, this anime's badass."

... and then stuff happens.

Meh.

Can't believe it's only one cour though. Seems like it should be pretty long...

Yea I really don't know how they are going to resolve the clusterfuck of things going on. Might be one of those shows that ends up being shit because they didn't explain shit and rushed through everything and don't plan on making a second season.

The show keeps me entertained though.

You guys talked about Valverave so much that I always was under the impression that it is supposed to be good :D

Valvrave is great, it has space vampires, high school, mechas, magic, revolution, keikakus, politics, idols, rape....

You just have to put on your seat belt and enjoy the ride

I know this anime is not new but just finished Angel Beats

Here is my say to it
+ Show Spoiler +
The first few episodes was quite entertaining before the quality of the anime sadly declined but its not that bad. It is still quite decent i even almost cried at the end. It was funny, the story was interesting and even though the story seems light-hearted some parts also packs up a punch that would give you the same ugly feeling you get when you watch shows like shingeki-no-kyojin. The first few episodes was quite decent it both contained comedy, drama and tragedy that was well executed. But the later episodes are not as good as the first few ones although i loved the ending cause it gave the same feeling that i felt when i watched clannad:afterstory.

I would say its safe to watch. Its quite decent for me.

I just finished marathoning all Angel Beats over the past 24 hours just now as well.

I can't quite decide if I found the back story of the characters too 'forced'. Though Kanede's reason for being around while being the most cliched is probably the one I found the most heartwarming. Then again I might just be a sucker for love stories. The grimdark part of me did appreciate the 'alternate end' more though. I probably would have stayed happier if I hadn't watched the alternate ending and just stopped at the 'true end' epilogue though.

I think I am decidedly against the Matrix-like God in a room moment, and I didn't find the 'Graduation Ceremony' all that well done to be honest. The only emotional punch I felt was with Kanede's reveal, and possibly Otonashi's inability to let go because that felt more 'genuine'.

EDIT: Final comment. I really enjoyed the OST, especially the opening.

i gotta agree opening one was one of the most memorable opening i had seen. Its quite decent.

I liked the last part regarding + Show Spoiler +
where kanade was waiting for Otonashi and stuff. I think it was heart melting. And the ending where Kanade disappeared and Otonashi was left i felt fucking devastated but maybe just like you i am also a sucker in these kind of lose story stuff.
. But the entire show could have done better if they have not tried to do everything at once and if the episodes were a lot longer not forced to finish. I think the plot + Show Spoiler +

Hearing someone's opinion on Valvrave is a good way to judge their sanity. If they say it is good, for any reason (which is mostly something like "its so bad its good"), they are clearly insane, so you can simply dismiss their opinion entirely.

Wait...wasn't his whole reason for not liking MJP because Valvrave was bad? And then he just called you out for calling Valvrave bad. Unless his opinion has changed, I am confused.

iirc from what I skimmed of source it just moves from one char to another and slowly adding to harem without ever really addressing story. Then again it has gone for double digits vol at this point I think so the later ones should mention something.

Not that it'll get covered in anime~

Just gonna have to wait for the game to release and see. Key is doing somewhat episodic releases like Minori though, which is gonna suck.

Yeah that machine doll thing pretty much watches like a harem anime that has some random doll things on the side...some of which are also included in the harem. *shrug*

Also best romance is that Loki guy and the MC. They're so bro and gay for each other. I can just feel the sexual tension oozing from every conversation they make.

I never watched it but after reading the description about it that's pretty much what I figured to be the case.

Hearing someone's opinion on Valvrave is a good way to judge their sanity. If they say it is good, for any reason (which is mostly something like "its so bad its good"), they are clearly insane, so you can simply dismiss their opinion entirely.

I don't particularly think they are BAD, they just don't fit what I would like to watch that is all. Whether they are actually bad or good is not my problem. Saying Code Geass is BAD and as BAD as Valvrave is a bit much <.<.

Started watching Hanasaku Iroha and I like this show too much D:, I didn't think I would like it from the description but I totally do. Also it has that same effect Silver Spoon had, where it would make me feel like a giant slacker for not waking up at 4-5am and work for 14 hours straight .

Hanasaku Iroha had a good episode 1.

After that it was kind of whatever, the middle of the show just got really bad because it was really boring/directionless, and then it had a decent finish. Standard PA works stuff.
