It moves more toward that direction later, but for the moment being it is just about people getting their act together. Would you look at the first couple of days Robinson Crusoe spent on an island and ask why there is no plot and no antagonist?
It just bothers me that we don't have any idea how or why they're trapped in the game, and there's no tension because people can't actually die in it. It all seems so SAO-lite at this point 9 episodes in.
it's already been said, the two shows seem to focus on entirely different aspects. SAO was about being trapped in a deathgame and about how a single, hero-esque boy beats the super evil guy and saves everyone (that hasn't died up to that point). Like you said, they were told how to get out in the first episode and they've been working towards that goal ever since.
Log Horizon, missing out on that villain who tells you how to get out in episode1 naturally focuses on other parts and therefore it's more about being in there rather than about the path of how OP-boy gets out. I guess calling it more slice of life doesn't really fit but it kind of feels that way if you ignore terminology. If it had permadeath - like SAO had - it'd be really grim as well. Just think about being in there, being more or less forced to fight monsters (diablo III hardcore anyone? you know, just way more extreme because YOU'll die and not just a couple of weeks of gameplay?) and you can die without actually knowing wether it helps at all because noone told you what to do.
SAO kind of had those moments as well but as the situation itself was a lot more dire with people understanbly going nuts, it focused on the romance and inter-human relationships to put emphasis on there still being those nice moments despite being trapped in that deathgame. Obviously noone would give a crap about mmorpg nostalgic moments in such a situation, very much unlike to what's been shown in Log Horizon so far.

not like it's super good but it's a really nice watch. Probably top5 for me this season?

yes, I say go for it. It's different from other animes including SAO which I've read a lot about on here. It's a nice anime imo and you may like it. Might as well give it a shot
Anyone knows when the last episode of Gundam Unicorn is coming out?. Want to wait for the last one to come out to marathon the whole thing or at least watch every episode a day apart, so something on a streaming site thought it might have already.

Coming next season, I believe. Terrible name aside, might be cool.
looks generic as fuck and its by sunrise st8 who are already working on something and have been for a while so they're probably phoning it in on this.
also a heads up to anyone watching yozakura quartet - the first OAD series (hoshi no umi) is set between episodes 8 and 9 of the tv series. watch it or you will be very very confused. i dont really feel like reading the thread to see if anyone brought this up yet.

At the very least, it can't be as bad as Valvrave or Code Geass, right? ...Right?
