We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. However, I still keep an eye on the top anime on animenewsnetwork.com, where I see Rorouni Kenshin and Death Note have long been kicked off their thrones and now Steins gate is there.
Is this show, Steins gate, that good or is it overhyped ?
Besides that, have there been any anime that came out, that are of the same calibers of Code Geass, Death Note, Berserk and Claymore? Yea, back then, I also "said" I enjoyed Death Note. But come to think of it, I believe Death has dropped a bit in my "virtual" list (I don't have one per se, but I do have a rough idea) after watching more anime. The second arc killed it for me. If Light would have won (after the death of L), I think it would have been a more unique experience for me -_- Steins Gate was super slow for me, but then it became one of my favourite. I think it is worth it, if you can manage the "long development", that is. If you haven't seen it, Fullmetal Alchemist is probably a good choice. You can also check Fate/Zero. Otherwise, check some top anime list. Although subjective, you still get to see some of the anime that were very popular (popular =/= best) http://myanimelist.net/topanime.php FMA is terribly slow paced for anime IMO

What kind of anime are you watching if you think FMA is slow paced?

Yea those Hentai plots are known to be so slow.

I think that everything could have been condensed into a 26-30 episode anime and it would have been much better. ~60 episodes and it really started to drag at several points and never caught my attention until around the 30th
they spent like half the series trying to get their hands on a philosophers stone, that should have been about 10-15 episodes then they needed time to figure out what to do next when + Show Spoiler +philo stones were made from dead people and they spent too much time focused on scar
they could have jumped to the + Show Spoiler + bit quite a bit earlier and tied up the series

Nah, the pacing was fine. It was faster than in the 2003 version too, for the parts that covered about the same things.

FMA Brotherhood felt short for 50ish episodes.
It was an extremely good watch. One of the few anime that I can marathon in a few sittings.

I was worried C3 was about to take itself too seriously. Glad I was wrong. Also, lack of trigger discipline pissing me off.

FMA seems like a safe recommendation to someone who asks about "Death Note and Code Geass caliber anime"

It's not as... anime-intensive(?) as some series that you see only "hardcore otaku" watching, but it's actually good enough that both new watchers and otaku can watch it and both enjoy it. So while it's not my favorite series of all time (though probably in my top 5) I would still call it one of the best out there in those terms.

FMA:Brother Hood is the kind of anime I'd recommend to someone who has never watched anime.

Real gentlemen reccommend the original, though.

The original is great except for ending + movie. I'm just not a fan of + Show Spoiler +

Also, someone on /m/ needs to start making a chart documenting the shit the new girls are pulling off, like what happened with Chris in Season 1. We got Maria with her Getter Wings, Votoms-chan who just watched Victory Gundam, and Deathscythe-chan already.

Heavy arms EW-chan coming soon?

I want someone to use funnels. Gotta love funnels.
I love how smug Maria is all the time, her song was also pretty good, combined with that cloak usage.
