If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

The dubbing is gonna be the last thing that hurts when you're watching this anime.

I wonder how disappointed people are going to be when they find out what the show is really like.

I'd think your average toonami viewer would like SAO just fine

Who IS the average toonami viewer? I mean, what's the overlap between "people who watch anime at 2am on Saturday" and "people who watch dubbed anime that's been out for years?" Does Cartoon Network have so many great shows that they can't put anime on at a reasonable hour? I remember watching Robotech on TV after school as a kid, and it seems weird that the state of anime on TV in the US hasn't really gotten any better in 20 years.
Of course, you only live one life, and you make all your mistakes, and learn what not to do, and that’s the end of you.

I think you can make the argument that anime on TV in the US as regressed. Plus the dubbing, it seems insane how little growth there has been in that area and there only a handful of voice actors that can even begin to compare to their Japanese counterparts.

I think the only channel that had anime here died a few years ago. RIP in peace, ZTV.

In Germany we have a channel that had a lot of anime (probably still has), off the top of my head: Pokemon, Digimon, Dragonball & DBZ, Conan, Ranma 1/2, One Piece, Naruto, Sailor Moon, Doremi, Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh, Shin-Chan, Monster Rancher, Nadia and many more.
Also a few channels showed some anime at night such as Lupin, Noir, Hellsing, Golden Boy, Agent Aika.

Not bad I'd say.

I'm sure that they will, but I just thought the trailer was a bit misleading lol.

I don't really know why Adult Swim waits until 12am to start showing anime. I though maybe it was in the hopes that it would be too late for kids to watch it, but they start showing King of the Hill and Family Guy and stuff at 9pm. I'm guessing SAO will come on at 2am because the other shows (Bleach, Naruto, etc.) are more popular.

What does it even matter that it's on at 2am though? It's 2013. Most cable packages come with a DVR already, just record it if it's too late for you or whatever.

Yeah I've been told to watch monster for quite a while as well. Mostly one RL-friend telling me to finally check it out, especially as someone from Germany it's supposed to be really awesome.

However, can't stop thinking it's way to serious of an anime for me (personally) to enjoy though, despite it probably being really good

Too serious? Do you only watch romcoms and harem shows or what? Monster is great.

See, the first time I was told about it I checked it out on MAL and saw
Genres: Mystery, Drama, Horror, Police, Psychological, Thriller, Seinen
and figured that's not my show, but yeah guess I'll start watching if everyone keeps pestering about it

Well too serious is a legitimate complaint if you are only looking for something lighthearted. But it's not MLA level of seriousness.

For the love of god I can't even find a properly working link on MAL or tokyotosho. If someone happens to know of a group that subbed it, did at least decently good at it and is still running that (I got a couple of 404's...), a pm would be awesome in case asking for that kind of stuff is allowed.
If it's not allowed in here it was a totally hypothetical question, move along.

Edit: I might or might not have gotten a pm, still depending on wether asking that is allowed. Thanks :3

Okada Kazuto's new manga is pretty interesting.

Less creepy than his previous works (though still pretty creepy), and might actually have a happy story this time?
