I think background music...or at least that's what I'm talking about.

opening themes usually aren't produced for the anime, so I assume it's about bgm.

Yes, that's what I was referencing too

What? That's definitely not the case. Music really isn't that big of a focus in a lot of anime from what I've seen....or at least most of the time it's just not that good. After F/Z Yuki Kajiura had some pretty lackluster tracks in SAO, even more rehashed than they usually are. The Shingeki no Kyojin anime really doesn't have good music...it's pretty meh despite the praise people seem to give it. o_O You can't say "they only use music in the OP/ED/Teaser and then forget about it", that's simply wrong. Even if it's not meant literally and is more of hyperbole, there's still plenty of music in anime nowadays. Whether you like it or not is a different matter.

You should give Nobunaga no Chef a try too. It's also food related, but is a much more balanced series.
Music tends to be rather cut and paste for most shows. Play high octane music during action scenes. Switch to sad violin for emotional scenes. It's not that music's only used in the OP/ED, just that the vast majority of it is very forgettable.

I've had this in my ever-growing manga backlog. But since it has the ZNF seal of approval I suppose I must read it sooner rather than later.

no shit there's music. no one is saying there's no music.

it's kind of the same matter. if i don't like it it's bad. objectively.

It's enjoyable, though it's not as educational as some other food mangas.
On BGM, I find it more often to be the case that BGH tracks are very enjoyable on their own, but they get overwhelmed a bit during the series. Feels to be less prominent than shows from 95-05, even though the quality most likely better.

I actually can't remember many background tracks from recent shows, but stuff I watched as a kid (aka Sailor Moon, but also others) really sticks out. I'm not entirely sure why that is.

Whats everyone top anime for currently airing anime? I enjoyed the first few eps of Valvrave, but things seem to have slowed down alot.
Kind of the same for Shingeki (guess its hard to beat the first episode ^^)
For some weird reasons, I'm still following Devil Survivor 2... On my free time, I'm following Aku no Hana. Nakamura + Saeki are better visually in the manga, imo
For manga : Reading Pandora Hearts
Maybe its because I haven't watched enough Anime, but I am still able to find enjoyable music here and there. Usually, at least 1 good song

I pickup PH every few months and it takes my head for a spin everytime and I end up rereading the last 2 years worth of chapters just to remind myself what the fuck is going on..

Yahari ore no Seishun (Best MC of the season), Hataraku Maou-sama (still pretty funny), SnK (still doing ok off the manga hype) and Gargantia (finally done with the slife of life stuff so hopefully things will happen). Hentai Ouji warawanai neko is a pretty fun one if you have a spare 20 min- lots of moe and stuff.

Maou-sama is my aots, Railgun is getting really cool now that we jumped into plot+action(and less SoL).

Nothing will beat Aiura, except for Yuyushiki.
|
Nothing REALLY stands out but I'm still following 8-9 shows a month in, overall quality is pretty good.
|
Cant wait for SnK OST to get released. Awesome episode as always !
|
SnK could be AOTY, but is held back by production. Still pretty good though.

Thanks for the rec. I read a few chapters. This is really good!

I did see the original Railgun, index and half of index 2 so far in the last 1 and a half months. If the new one is anything like the old one it's probably my choice for best this season so far. Most stuff I've seen this season is decent or nice but not really that great imo, though I did only check out 5 shows (one dropped) this season so far, due to lack of internet.
The best part about Hentai Ouji warawanai neko btw is without a doubt Tsutsukakushi's voice when she's doing something that should usually show emotions (or should be done screaming). Screw everything else, that alone is enough reason to keep watching that show.
