Pretty sad that + Show Spoiler + shusei kagari died + Show Spoiler + Yeah it was pretty obvious from the start that the Sibyl System is baaad and that Makishima could be called "good" in some sense in this scenario since he's against it. As predictable as it is, I kinda like it. Now I can cheer on Makishima.

+ Show Spoiler + Maybe I'm missing something, but if the Sybil system is a bunch of brains why can't it judge Makishima's crime coefficient? If it couldn't judge him in his daily routine ok, but Makishima killed someone right in front of a dominator. Not only that the system includes someone that also can't be judged that used to work with Makishima. Before the reveal I thought the system worked by measuring brain activity or something and Mikishima was a psychopath or had an abnormal brain that does not emit whatever is measured by the Sybil system when the person is doing something they know is immoral. The reality though is it's a system of brains that works in conjunction with stress meters and other scanners?

+ Show Spoiler + I don't think the Sybil system judges someone on his actions at all (like a normal judiciary system does). It just judges you as an individual. When someone is so complex and ambiguous that they (the brains) can't compute his Crime Coefficient, the best solution is to integrate that individual to the network. The system then becomes more potent. I like to think of it as a logical system to which you add more and more axioms and rules. This extra set of axioms and rules (let's call it S) you couldn't deduce with your first system L1, you integrate them to form a second, L2. Then L2 can deduce more things, in particular S (obviously, because L2 contains S). In this story, L1 would have been the current Sybil system and L2 would have been roughly Sybil system + Makishima, but that plan kinda failed, didn't it? So Makishima is still unaccounted for in the current Sybil system, an existence that shouldn't exist, something unfathomable, if you will. This series is becoming so good, haha. Makishima proves once more to be t3h badass.

Common route was really well done. A ton of important information is just nonchalantly paraded in front of you. Supernatural events happen all the time, and Kotarou just plays it for comedic effect. It's hilariously misleading. The sheer relevance of the common route makes the whole presentation really impressive to me. Oh, and the jokes were usually pretty good too~ What was the point of Gil and Pani? They're barely plot relevant, but they still get sprites when Inoue doesn't. Odd choice. Mappie is a pain in the ass, and whoever came up with that shit is a sadist. Kotori route serves as a decent introduction to the situation since she's basically a third party to the whole thing. The problem is, it drags itself out too long. Once they left the barrier, the outcome seemed pretty clear. The rest was just an exercise in reaching the end. Tonokawa: So I figured it'd be nice if [Sakuya] failed to achieve his biggest goal, and ended up entrusting Kotarou to achieve it in his place. But back when we released the trial everyone seemed to hate him. Ryuukishi: There's no avoiding that at the beginning of the story......(laughs) Tonokawa: I was trying to write him as an unlikeable guy, but I overdid it (laughs). But as soon as he does something a little nice suddenly everyone seems to like him......it's not fair. There's honestly not much to this route besides Sakuya. I guess making the dial spin out of control in the bad end was pretty amusing. ~_~ Shizuru route, I feel, is the weakest of all the routes. Getting a closer look at Guardian was quite nice. The latter part of the route was really quite unsatisfying though. We also got an appearance by Chihaya and Sakuya, but they really didn't do anything... It's kinda weird that Shizuru is the only heroine that gets completely shafted in her route (Actually, that reminds me of a certain crimson red vermillion~). This route can also be summed up in one word: saury. Lucia route. I really enjoyed the horror story type stuff that occurred at the start of the route. The ending I wasn’t so keen on, but overall, I guess it wasn't half bad. I still take issue with Shizuru losing that fight. D: Extra shoutout for one of the better uses of rewrite in this route. Tohno Shiki would be proud. Also, SHE KILLED YOSHINO. What an asshole. Akane route was mediocre. I didn't really appreciate the whole "Suzaki is actually a good guy!" twist, even if it makes sense considering Akane's mindset. I did like the ending with them venturing out into the unknown though. The fact that Yoshino actually shows up in this route (and is of moderate importance!) was pretty refreshing. Moon route was great. It was very reminiscent of Tsuki no Sango, which I also liked. I had mixed feelings about the familiar attacks, but whatever. More Sakuya is also never a bad thing. The title screen after this route was pretty fantastic too. Terra route was pretty good. It did a great job of addressing all the lingering questions. The whole non-choice mechanic was pretty novel, and it made sense. The development of the Guardian old guard was really good stuff. Esaka, Nishikujou, and Imamiya all benefited greatly from that backstory. What the heck happened to the Earth Dragon fight in this route? We finally learn that it's sentient, it says two lines, and then it dies. Offscreen. The ending of Terra had its ups and downs. Esaka's death was legitimately saddening (the monochrome cg and pose also reminded me of a certain LoGH scene). Kagari's death was just... weird. It felt like a letdown, considering how the route had been built up to that point. The final sequence with the occult club summoning familiar Kotarou was handled fine though. I am more than ok with that sort of bittersweet end. The sheer hypocrisy of Terra was pretty funny, in retrospect. Kotarou spends the whole first half of the route telling Kagari that he can't just run into Gaia/Guardian headquarters and slaughter everyone. And then, that's exactly what he does. ~_~ The fact that they sought out and assassinated Suzaki is also funny after what we learned in Akane route. The unintended (or maybe it is? ![]() Imamiya's first appearance in common route is pretty cool after reading Terra. Music-wise, I don't have a whole lot to comment on. OP 1 is pretty good. OP 2 is mindblowingly amazing. The EDs aren’t particularly well sung or anything, but I feel they did a good job of matching the tone of the endings well. Especially Moon and Terra. The ED sequences for those two routes really hit home. Art-wise, Rewrite... varies... The backgrounds are pretty enough, and the sprites are fine, but CG quality ranges from atrocious to good. Oppai. + Show Spoiler + Agreed on a lot of your points. I really liked the first half of Lucia route, but not so much the second half. Esaka's death just became all the much sadder now that you mentioned it's like LoGH u.u. Sakyua route obviously best route. Started watching Monster. This and Eralee from Inganock makes me lose faith in doctors. On a more serious note, I'm at episode 10 and so far it's really good.
