Dont like it, and it has nothing to do with completely different. The chara design oozes naive tryhard rookie to me and we all know thats the last thing the major is unless its by design and relates to the setting and plot. | ||

I'm not sure where it oozes naive tryhard rookie, could you explain that? Also, I think it was hinted somewhere that it was a prequel. Or maybe I just looked at the word "Arise" and the first thought was prequel/flashback stuff. | ||

Her approach to almost every scenario was walk in, get the job done, then hand in the report. Very rarely do you ever see any sort of extreme expression - and whenever you did, the end result would be equally extreme. One image isn't much to talk about, but there is a ton of significance in her first appearance being a frowny-angry face. I don't see what this "naive rookie" talk is about, but any depiction of her character being overly emotional just doesn't...well, warrant the nickname "Major". | ||

I think the issue is she looks super serious, and she is not very serious at all, especially if you go by the original source + Show Spoiler + full of lesbian orgy And I have no issue with anime "these days". There are a TON of great stuff. The problem is that we get 20-30 series per season instead of 6-8, and everything kind of blend together and look generic just because how many there are. | ||

She was pretty pissed off in the first scene of Stand Alone Complex iirc. o_O Does she really look that serious and angry?
