It's the exact reason a lot of people been skeptic about Maoyuu anime, the writing style (which is a really minimalism straight dialogue) just doesn't translate well.
WTF Firefox only recognize dialog but not dialogue, which is more common US spelling

You mean dialog and not dialogue? The latter is still overwhelming preferred in the States.
The writing style can transfer over fine if they have more confidence in doing it instead of trying to gimmick their way through.

Yeah... it's getting on my nerves actually.
Well, they can do full gimmicky Shinbo style, which I think would work out better, but they really half arsed it.

Just noticed Sasami's writer is Akira who also wrote Mushi to Gankyuu series, one of the more intriguing (though not necessarily best quality) novels series I've read. He also wrote Kyouran Kazoku Nikki, which novel was not as good and anime was pretty terrible. Guess I will need pick up Sasami novel one of the days, probably after series is over.

Mandaijitachi ga blahblahb lahblahblah whatever is going to be my guilty pleasure of the season I think.
|
Mondaiji tachi? I've been spamming it here as best anime of the season potential. The novel is just amazing. It's actually very straight forward fantasy novel, not much service at all. The feeling is very similar to Owari no Chronicle (more so than Horizon) but lighter tone.

Not only is btooom very different, it's also a ridiculous anime approaching the retardedness of SAO. Don't watch btooom, it's a waste of your time. As for recomendations for NHK. I actually don't know about any show like it (then again I'm not really the most knowledgeable person around here), I do think NHK is a very one of a kind anime though. I agree on that it is very different, but I think Btoom is an okay show. Madhouse did what they could with it, they even had boob physics. Not their fault the idea had ridiculously little (good) material.
As for recs for someone who liked NHK, Tatami Galaxy and Paranoia Agent would be up your alley. I'm sure you'll enjoy them both.
Lain is quite different from NHK but I still think it's a must watch for anyone who doesn't just want to stick to one group of genres.

Lain is quite different from NHK but I still think it's a must watch for anyone who doesn't just want to stick to one group of genres. The reason I dislike it so much is because too much stuff didn't make sense and it completely destroyed the anime for me. I thought the premise and beginning were pretty good, but then they just started screwing around. A prime example is when + Show Spoiler +the main character was supposedly killed by the evil doctor guy with the bomb in the suitcase. The first time you see it, the explosion looks almost instant to the girl yelling to drop the damn suitcase. Then later they show how he miraculously escaped the situation and they show something that took 10 times longer than the first situation. Another one is how the character is both a 'genius' and a fucking idiot at the same time. It takes him 4 bombs to figure out he has timed bombs even though he's a top Btooom player and it's obvious to any idiot that those were timed bombs. But later he figures out that the doctor guy placed traps all over the building and he moves one. There's also the issue of the main guy getting hit with a truckload of bombs but apparently if the explosion is not DIRECTLY on him it doesn't hurt him at all. Then when he finally does get hit by a bomb it only wounds his leg, which seemed to have recovered perfectly 5 minutes later as he was walking about again.
I could go on for a while but the point has been made. It had way too many unbelievable moments that took me way out of the experience and every episode they managed to make themselves look more and more ridiculous.
On January 12 2013 06:38 Zergneedsfood wrote:^ + Show Spoiler +At the very least I thought the part about him using that one guy's lack of depth perception to trick him into thinking he was next to the bomb was pretty cool. + Show Spoiler +It was cool, it did have some good stuff. I liked the old guy that he traveled with from the start too, never knowing if he was going to betray them or not. In the end though there was just way too much bullshitting.
