+ Show Spoiler + The show is more of a heroic, personal drama, so even though at some point the Empire clearly prevails in galactic dominance, that by no means detracts from the personal trials of the characters. The deaths of heroes like Yang, Reuenthal, Reinhard, and even Oberstein in my book do not constitute any sort of "dragging on." Each of their deaths was framed both by the heroism of their lives and the sad, unfair situations they lived in where they either chose death for personal reasons or did everything they could to better the world before death took them. Personally for me after Yang died I simply couldn't put down the show until the Terraists were put to justice, but even after Julian gunned them down I felt the same kind of emptiness that I think the show wants us and Julian to feel: what exactly have we accomplished? What are the lives of these fools compared to the lives of Yang and Reinhard? You would need herculean stamina to marathon this show and still digest it all.

There's only so many times we can see Seiji and Yuki fall apart and come together. Personally, I hope they focus on Risa and Izumi for a while. Best characters in the whole manga.

Same with Gantz. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is pretty good, but VN is better imo. Jigoku Shoujo is pretty okay too. Monster has some horror elements (it is mainly psychological dramathriller though) and is one of the best anime ever made, should check that out no matter what, unless you cannot handle slower paced stuff. Ghost Hunt is great too, as well as A lot of people like Mononoke, personally I thought it was mediocre. Think they'd still recommend it to you though and you might like it. Same with Mnemosyne, though it's better than Mononoke imo. Though overall I think anime is a pretty bad medium for horror, there is not too much immersion into it. It just becomes a thriller, nothing more. VNs are a lot better at building that immersion, so I recommend going into such instead.
