good god man
we def have different taste since i 10/10 elfen lied, higurashi & end of evangelion . and i never even knew so many slice of lifes existed
but i have like 21 new anime downloading first 2 episodes using yours and other peoples lists (so far)
since you've seen so much maybe you can answer this question i ask every 6-12 months:
i saw 1st ep of this anime. a girl was on a floating sky island by a temple. she was studying to learn magic (beginner). a boy in a small airplane/craft crash lands into her. they talk then the plane falls down, taking them with it, falling through the endless sky perhaps towards another floating sky island... end.
do you recognise this? :o
edit also whats the anime i saw 1 ep of , this young boy could travel between dimensions, or maybe he saw a girl who could and followed her. they were sitting atop some super tall chimnleys in a mayybe post apocalyptic or just person-less industrial landscape. then there was a dimensional rift.

Um... only thing comes to mind is Laputa, but that can't be it...
And second one doesn't ring a bell either, stuff that pops doesn't make any sense at all (Yami to Boushi... wtf?) ><

I've never actually read a VN, though I'm not opposed to the idea... http://fsn.seorinwastaken.com/archive/This is the complete Fate Stay Night game, Let's Read style. I've both played the VN and the LR, and this LR is quite possibly the best way for someone who doesn't want to muck around with torrents and patches to learn about Fate Stay Night. These are some of the video clips embedded into the LR: http://www.seorinwastaken.com/fsn/index.phpSeorin has also done Tsukihime. His censorship style is hilarious. http://lparchive.org/Tsukihime/
Visual Novels are... interactive? Games? Mind = blown. I had no idea! And LR is the Let's Play equivalent. Wat.
You made my day! Thanks, I'll check this out. And I guess I should look up "light novel" before someone informs me that a light novel is a uniquely expressive breed of goat.
EDIT: Ok, whew. A light novel is just a short novel.

^ Visual novels are much better than animes in general, FSN especially. The visual novel was incredibly good. Also it's recommended you do read/play through it, as there's a lot of choices to make and lots of game overs, so this means that you really get to feel the gameplay as well. It's much more immersive that way. I really don't like to read through some let's plays or whatever.
Also it's not difficult to download VNs, there's this one site that has every single english-translated visual novel available for download.
Just finished Steins;Gate the Visual Novel.
It was surprisingly good, better than I expected. Even so it had some disappointing parts and I feel like some of the potential wasn't utilized fully. Kurisu was also one of the Tsundere characters I didn't find annoying, she actually was one of my favorite heroines thus far. Okabe Rintarou was crazy and quite annoying at times, but still refreshing in comparison to the stereotype lame protagonists. The time travel stuff was quite interesting even though the Scifi here felt a bit... strange, I also really liked the foreshadowing. Some things were quite easy to predict but story is still a clear 10/10 and the best part of this VN, along with the characters(Kurisu and Okarin to be specific)
The soundtrack was all right, the main theme and a few others were superb but it's a bit below average for VNs of that level(For example, Muv-Luv Alternative, Fate/Stay Night, Sengoku Rance and G-Senjou no Maou soundtracks >>>>>>>>> this soundtrack). Art was alright, I thought that it fit it quite well but it still was below average as well, I'd say. Honorable mention to the route choice system centered around the cellphone, it was really unique. However really confusing and pretty much trial-and-error, but still unique.
Would give it a 9 or 9.5. less than 8 without true ending.+ Show Spoiler [about true end] +The fake credits were one of the most "wtf this is incredibly amazing *Stare at screen for 5 minutes* moments I've had while playing visual novels. I'm really happy that I didn't spoil that for myself.
I also finished the Visual Novel Sharin no Kuni: Himawari no Shoujo. Akabesoft really makes some amazing protagonists. Both the protagonist of this VN and G-Senjou no Maou were awesome. Much more interesting than the wimpy nice-guy person who somehow gets a harem running after him for no reason.
Houzuki Masaomi was amazing, Wakamoto Norio is my favorite voice actor and his performance here was magnificent, in many parts of the VN I got super chills and had to listen to some of his lines repeatedly because they just were so badass. It wouldn't matter at all how good the rest of the VN was, I recommend this to anyone just because Wakamoto Norio was so incredibly amazing here. I think that this is by far the best performance by Wakamoto Norio, actually. It's like his badassery went up by like 100% in some of the scenes.
However I thought the rest of the VN was really good as well. It's really heavy and at times difficult to read(It's quite sad and dramatic). I didn't really like most of the female characters that much but I guess it's all right, they weren't super annoying either and the male characters were really good. I loved the setting, the punishment system was extremely interesting and I'd love to see more stories in this sort of a setting. The storyline went pretty decently I feel, there weren't many times where I felt that they left many things out so the flow was pretty good in my opinion.
I'd give this 9/10 probably. Most of the minus points are the girls not being amazing and the soundtrack being pretty mediocre.
Unlike with most VNs, the fandisc is absolutely essential to the experience, Houzuki Masaomi's story was the best part in the VN in my opinion and one of my favorite stories in VN history + Show Spoiler [ A bit more about it, mild spoilers] +It was a really really sad and depressing tragedy story, I couldn't help but compare it to Rurouni Kenshin:Tsuioku Hen. Also the sex scene here is perhaps the best one I've seen or at the very least very very close. Incredibly emotional and insightful, probably makes you see the main story in a different light.
Now I'm kind of wondering what to do ...
I kind of feel like learning kanji and japanese so that I can play throught he Baldr Sky visual novels... I can understand spoken japanese so that I can make out the general idea there and same deal with kana but if there's some technical stuff without voice acting I guess I'm really going to miss out on alot... I really wonder why they don't translate something that seems so amazing *Sob*

start with the Read or Die ova, takes place before the tv series, and some of the characters do pop up in the series eventually. Not sure how much I can actually recommend the tv series but it is more read or die, not as bad as last exile-->fam but still a bit different.
a guess at the second series Now and Then, Here and There http://myanimelist.net/anime/160/Ima_Soko_ni_Iru_Boku
castle in the sky or fractal two closest I can think of to the first one, probably not it though.

I actually hated both of those VNs and couldn't finish them. I'm not a fan of the average high school loser protagonist either, but I couldn't relate at all to the guys in Sharin/G-Sen and all the female characters were awful too.

I actually like R.O.D TV better than OVA, but that's just me. The TV is completely original spin off from the novel with some common characters while OVA is at least based on the novel.

The TV did not have enough Yomiko and she was pretty lousy even when she was in it. The sisters were generic as fuck, which in itself isnt such a bad thing but meh.. It wasnt terrible cuz + Show Spoiler + but I dont think its got anything on the OVA.

Shinsekai is the best one imho

I wasn't even aware MAL had things like that lol. I just used it to keep track of what I watched.

I use it just to remember what I should be watching once I have time.

I feel like for both VNs you need to read Chapter 5 at least halfway until you can properly judge them. I really don't think you'll be disappointed if you get that far in both of them. Assuming you dropped them in the earlier chapters, just try to endure(Although I did enjoy the earlier chapters of both VNs).

G-sen sucks.
Sharin is a bit overrated, it's always given high marks but I don't think it's all that it's cracked up to be.
|
Comparing the MC of Sharin to the MC of G-Sen, like they are of similar quality, is a HUGE insult to Kenichi imo.

Getting to chapter 5 for Sharin, the reveal is great, but for G-Sen its the polar opposite, with the most retarded twist that ruins the entire VN.

Near the end of chapter 3 in Sharin, not that far in G-Sen. I might try to pick Sharin back up after I finish Kara no Shoujo then.

kk heres my basic list (as in, not gonna hunt around to remember stuff so missing tons)
(you can sort the list by score by clicking on Score as you would when browsing torrents)
http://myanimelist.net/animelist/ffgenerations
my rating system combines emotional connection & also how good the anime is so i didnt have much emotional connection to bebop but it was still good anime i had a strong emotional connection to full moon whilst it wasnt a great anime
i dont watch much anime so as you can see most of my stuff is "on hold" since i just watch a few episodes (like 2-4) then do something else for .... months or years
also ill only rate something i can remember clearly enough to rely on how i felt about it
