The fanservice, was again, very strong with this one but I didnt mind it. We got to learn a lot about Shinobu and her fate with Koyomi. Very interesting to know that he doesnt mind waiting to die with her for the next 500 years. Either that or he has another plan in store that doesnt involve killing her to die as a normal human.
And Hanekawa cut her hair... I dont like it at all =/ Ponyhair with glasses was so much better imo. Nisem + Show Spoiler +No wai! I think her new hair is wayyyyy better. Although her old hair wasnt bad, but I do miss the glasses though Fairy Tale Logic Hero dude: No matter how strong you are! As long as I have the power of friendship, that is all the power I need!!! Then again Kumagawa and to some extent Anshin-in carry it so thats your difference right there. You dont have to kill people to make a good shounen manga, thats kinda how they work so the majority of the time its more a case of the bad guys even when winning never look like they are going to win which is my gripe with FT. Thats one of the reasons Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the better ones out there.
I have already come to accept that people wont die in fairy tale cause it shounen after all. My main problem is that everyone they tend to fight eventually become friends or realize how wrong they were and suddenly become friend afterwards

Another thing that happens in most shounen works to. The whole idea is that some of those people involved in conflicts arent unchangeable bad or even bad to begin with its just the nature of the conflict that makes them oppose the protagonist. I dont know how far along the anime is. Its just a very standard shounen motif that you cant complain about if your going to read shounen manga or watch the shows. Also how is that everyone ? They fight almost a dozen people every arc and 1 or 2 (maybe 3 and sometimes even the main antagonist of the arc) of them turn team, with reasonable enough (depending on your pov reasons) Again pretty standard shounen stuff. If you think like that Its easy to forget that like 90 percent of the people they fight get their asses handed to them and dont "mend" their ways or join them.

Nanoha's friendship philosophy: to become friends with someone is very simple. Just call their name use your most powerful, destructive, and life threatening attack that magically never involves death. The loser will inevitably see the error of his/her ways and befriend you.

Nisemono 4 + Show Spoiler + Holy shit Tsukihi is scary with that knife wtf?!# It feels they omitted the earlier part of the story they kept eluding to, which I think consists of Karen meeting up with that Kaiki guy and somehow getting stung by a magical bee.
Is the "he" Shinobu and Araragi are referring to the Guillotine Cutter guy? or some other person? Also, what's this talk about Araragi killing Shinobu? More Kizumono stuff to be revealed in the movie I suppose?
Great to see Hanekawa again though, no complaints about her new choice of hair cut. It was interesting to hear how Araragi doesn't consider himself strong either. Since he's a vampire and all, with super healing powers and now can possibly live up to 500 years old. But I guess he's powerful if compared to normal humans, instead of the supernatural beings.

From what I've heard/understood about the nature of the Magic most people use in Nanoha, is that the attacks are not life threatening, and that is one of their advantages over conventional weaponry (The fact that they can be set to stun, so to speak).

Well it not a large majority of it but it basically the main antagonist of every arc. + Show Spoiler + Lyon and his gang (island arc), Kings (edolas arc), Laxus and his gang (Laxus arc), Hades and his gang (tenjou island arc), Gajeel (Gajeel arc?). My point is, is that basically every single arc, a signifigant antagonist realized the error of their ways and eventually become frieinds. Basically, every arc, you can be promised that atleast a good number of 1-3 people that are important at least will realized the error of their ways and become friends or become good.
How do these people turn from bad to good? The power of friendship. It always the same thing over and over lol. I dont mind a character every now and then go from bad to good but 1-3 character every arc being coverted due to the power of friendship is kinda silly. Compared to other shounen where you are kinda left guessing, Fairy tale you can already anticipate that someone will get influenced by the power of friendship and turn good.

Aren't they referring to Oshino or am I just really dumb? Oshino subjected Shinobu to incessant lectures of the supernatural while she sat in the corner and said nothing so she knows a bunch of random facts. Araragi needs to kill Shinobu so he loses what's left of his vampire effects but he obviously won't (or that's how I interpreted it). If not, he may have a lifespan of that of a vampire, thus having to watch all his friends (harem) die before him. Details will be revealed in Kizu probably. Interesting to see they don't like each other but put up with each other for whatever reason. Well, Araragi is not surprising given his nature, but we actually knew nothing about Shinobu before.
Really enjoyed this episode again. Finally got to hear Shinobu talk! I like the way she talks - another great voice to love in this series. I guess Aya Hirano got...shafted...I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.
Just got my hands on Bungaku Shoujo 4. So tempted to just finish it in 1 sitting but I have a ton of homework...decisions decisions.
edit: I'm aware Nanoha magic (almost) never kills but it's still hilarious to see gigantic blasts of destruction that can destroy cities but are non-lethal.

Well yeah thats why its bad. Not because people change sides or become reformed but because the reason the hero always wins is lousy.
+ Show Spoiler + The whole friendship thing is the reason most of the time they win, not the reason the opponent gets reformed (not everytime anyway.) Laxus has grand daddy issues and his gang worship him so whatevs they get resolved. Gajeel is a stereotypical misunderstood loner with anger issues (to begin with) basically a Natsu who got picked up by the bad guys, Lyon and his gang arent really bad ever again its pretty much Lyon who gets owned by Grey that solves the problem, I dont remember friendship coming up much as the reason for his reform its mostly Ur/mommy issues they are resolving, the same for Ultear. Jellal is being controlled by Ultear who as mentioned before has mommy issues. Theyre might be a few instances where it comes up sure but saying they all redeem because they realise how awesome having friends is a bit unfair. Its not that pathetic, you could argue some of the stuff I described isnt really great ( I dont think it is) but its not outright like someone mentioned is like my little pony.
Ofcourse if they join the hero's they obviously gain good friends, and who doesnt like having friends. Its an unavoidable side effect. You have to be a really lonely person to dislike that :p

+ Show Spoiler [Nisemonogatari Episode 04] + I love that they are changing the character's images in the show slighty. Sometimes it gets kind of old/annoying seeing the same characters design over a long period of time. Or characters are simply unphased by traumatic events. Even Kanbaru's hair is a little longer hair in the previous episode.
Also despite the amount of fanservice that was in the show, it was done rather tastefully, imo. It didn't really distract from the main conversation.

I was glad to see Tsukihi knife, a bit less happy when I saw that her fanservice won't be till next ep. Oh well.
The whole Shinobu and Araragi conversation is really something for the ones who read already, though the kind of accidental omission of information worked out well here. I don't know how the subs translated it though, but the implication isn't that they hate each other, but that they won't deny what they have done to each other. The end to Bake should give you a pretty good idea as to how the two's relationship is, Kizu just fleshes it all out with the past events.
Incidentally Bungaku Shoujo vol 4 is a Nanase vol, what you say to that you tsundere lover KazeHydra.

So idk, but Oshino would make a lot of sense. That and Araragi also asked her if Oshino mentioned anything about bee's to her.
Tsukihi was creepy and awesome at the same time. At first looking like it didn't phase her seeing Shinobu and her brother in the bath with each other, but then comes back with a chef's knife and pot cover shield. I see what Araragi meant by her being even more dangerous than Karen.

+ Show Spoiler + Yeah they didn't show what happened with Karen and Kaiki. Tsukihi is awesome with the knife, it really adds to her already entertaining character.
+ Show Spoiler [Nisemonogatari] + Why do you think they dislike each other? While they said they won't forgive each other they seem to get along just fine. I think Shinobu just has a dark sense of humour and is messing with Arararagi.

+ Show Spoiler + Well, I didn't get the feeling of hatred between them but it certainly didn't feel all that friendly. The biggest things that made me feel they don't like each other all that much was "I won't forgive you and you won't forgive me" and "I have no intention of getting along with you." (not entirely sure about this 2nd quote, but that's what I recall thinking) I interpreted it as them accepting the situation they are in but not really liking it all that much. To me, not forgiving someone means you have some lingering negative feelings rather than just acknowledging the not-so-good history between the two but maybe that's not what was supposed to be implied.
Actually, you already told me about Nanase and vol4 which is exactly why I want to read it so much
@Nagi, 8 year old Shinobu loli form is not Oshino.

The reasons for this are outlined pretty clearly in Kizu.

+ Show Spoiler [ Nise 4 A bit of Kizu spoiler] +Wow, Shinobu goes into HeartUnderblade mode, about time. I think the details of how he saves her and how it will affect everything were explained in Koyomi Vamp atleast. And yea he doesnt plan on killing her, something about making a burden or something, since she made him a vampire and he didnt let her die despite that being the only way for him to turn back. Theres details in there ofcourse which are explained. What he did to become a vampire in the first place was pretty stupid anyway. And the fallout from that is what Kizu ends with. Thats where she talks to Oshino in that manner aswell.
In general Shinobu Or Heartunderblade doesnt really have any semblance of how mundane things work in the world since she supposed to have been an existence above all that etc etc, hence the "O cool shampoo lets try that". Shes arrogant as hell no matter how wretched her situation gets and her behavior is obviously supposed to reflect that. Obviously Oshino had something in mind when he was filling her head with all that stuff its clear now how theyll go solve problems without his help I think. That was my biggest curiosity, and she calls him kid because shes five hundreds of years old so hes like a kid to her.
