I can't believe Shinobu is finally talking in Nisemonogatari. YES!
Btw, interesting tidbit.
Did you know that Shinobu was originally casted to be Aya Hirano in Bakemonogatari? The Bakemonogatari Drama cd (the name of which slips my mind right now) had Aya Hirano performing her lines.

well I prefer Maaya Sakamoto over Hirano anyway so it's a great change for me.

I'm not sure if you're referring to books or not, but they are episodic so it's definitely not as bad as only going partway through an anime or manga. I really enjoyed them for being such easy reads but still having solid mysteries and usually unexpected final twists. I also like how they all touch on the idea of dark secrets and pasts while still maintaining a relatively happy story.

I enjoyed it a lot, partly due to Nanase, but also because I actually knew about Phantom of the Opera beforehand, so it ended up being a lot more interesting than the past 3 books. As far as Nanase's tsundere levels: I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. Although the story focused on her, too much time was spent on her being worried over Yuka rather than being tsundere towards Konoha (which from a normal perspective is to be expected, but I want my tsundere!). There were definitely some really good scenes but I think the first chapter which was completely filled with adorable tsundere set my expectations too high for the rest. I guess it was more like a few high level tsundere scenes rather than a steady and constant pace of average lines, which is what I thought it would be like. When I think about it, if there was constant tsundere, it would eventually get old, so perhaps this way was better; the scenes are much more memorable as well. That said, I really love how there are so many little things scattered across the books that lead up to the drama in vol5. That will definitely be another great read. You ask for too much for tsundere lol, given the mood that you even got one chapter of extreme tsundere should be enough But yeah pacing, if you get used to a constant drop of those lines, they lose meaning really, really fast. Keep in mind how I said that Nanase kept my attention all the way throughout gaiden too, that's another 6+ vols of contents.
Moderation is best.
Vol 5 drama in the books so much more than what the movie could bring up. Everything sets up for vol 5.

I think I rated vol 2 a looooot higher just because of how that ending turns out from considering it with Wuthering Heights in mind, etc.
Basically Eca has too much time on his hands and read source to be hipster when he can, lulz.
Incidentally, relatively happy? We might just have different standards, but things are quite bleak at the end of vol 4. Vol 5 and 6 was enough to make me read a ton of other shit so I can put off reading the last 2 books :p

As for being relatively happy, I'm comparing to the fact that the author could choose to go down a much more tragic path, but given the circumstances, it comes out about as well as it realistically could. For example, + Show Spoiler [vol4] + how Yuka was truly happy at the end, the 2 music teachers turn themselves out of guilt, and no one holds any grudges. It could have ended a lot worse. Also, Nanase's love is beginning to bear fruit! (Yes, I know it will never come to pass) Also, I'm generalizing across the entire series. Even in bad situations, there are lots of small scenes that make you smile (typically Touko being silly as usual) or just simple things that keep it from becoming a story about only tragedy. Plus, not all the endings are so bad, such as vol3 (though I guess it only gets worse as the series progresses). But if you compare to an average person's life, then yes, it's pretty sad. And of course, Miu makes everything bad, such a crazy girl. Too bad I have to wait like 8 months for vol5

Naw I wouldnt say ZnF would be a side character. He would probably be the misunderstood mysterious good/bad guy and a BAMF who turns out to be good later on. Just that after he defeated Ferrose at the battle of Ano Hana he gave off a tsundere like aura that made everyone scared of him. Yet on the inside, he secretly fighting evil and protect Sentenal and guiding him.
EDIT: Perhaps he is a time traveling Mahou Shoujo?

lol first time I heard IS was smooth. I always though the ending was pretty rush and left viewer hanging and scratching their head.
As for the show about us, I would watch it since it about us but it would probably suck pretty bad lol.
