If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

As an anime noob, who has a deep love for Cowboy Bebop and just finished Samurai Champloo, what would you guys recommend I move onto next?

My friend pointed me towards Trigun and Kenshin. Any others?

Thanks :D

I watched it and enjoyed it, especially the 'fay' character. It wasn't really impressive though, but it is a fun anime

Hmmm I suggest Strawberry Panic, Kannazuki no Miko, and Yamibou. Bakemonogatari is great too, and possibly Clannad.

Yea Trigun is not bad at all. Watching it right now but it focuses more on comedy than action. Still Cowboy Bebop is much better for me. You can skip Kenshin TV series and Watch Kensin OVA Trust and Betrayal. You need to watch Black Lagoon (if you loved Cowboy Bebop you will like this ), GITS 2 seasons + movies, Baccano!, Hellsing OVA, Mushishi, Mononoke, Gungrave, Shigurui (if you can handle REALLY gory stuff )

Blasterion are you serious or just trollin? :D

Oh god how I love Inazuma Eleven, I know it's supposed to be for kids, but I don't think I've ever seen any other series seemingly love the sport they portray as much as that one. I will force feed my son this series the moment he is old enough. If you love football (That's soccer for all you weird Americans) and can look past the fact that it's obviously for kids you have to watch this.

I end every episode with one of the biggest grins I could muster.

I'm sitting here being nostalgic over Love Hina. Was the first anime I ever watched in it's entirety (save Moomin and some stray episode of Starzinger in my childhood, and maybe some Pokémon on TV) - and sporadic watching of the first two episodes of Sailor Moon). I hung out at a Swedish Diablo II forum around that time, and digital fansubbing was about to explode, and some guy posted something about it. Having read the Dragonball manga I was interested, and started to survey the downloading options at that time (weird FTP's I had got ahold of somehow, searching on altavista or some similar search engine for sources, Kazaa and Napster) and finally got the series downloaded on my 56k modem after a couple of nights, missing episodes that had to be located etc. Then I basically marathoned the whole thing, eyes glued to the screen throughout the night. Hell, I was 12 years old or so, captivated by the whole experience. The magic of being a child... And to think that it has lead me to follow anime regularly, with some dips and tops in enthusiasm, for about 10 years now.

Anyone else have any special memories of "discovering" anime?

wow thats basically how i got into manga/anime, watched pokemon/yugioh a bit then watched love hina in a day or two and got hooked.
I can already see the ending

Everyone recommending trigun or cowboy bebop...

anything before 2005 was trash. How could you even compare trigun to something like madoka

The plot is a bonus
