I'm not sure if stuff like minami-ke is better in manga form or anime, or whichever you see first.
Thanks for the recommendations.
It may be sad, but it's also amazing and incredibly well done.
Yeah, I watched After Story as well. The series was so good as a whole, that I'm seriously thinking about looking into the visual novel when I have some free time.

That was really good, probably the best youtube K-On drummer I've seen. And, as a side note, not that it should matter, but its nice to finally see a K-On girl that actually looks like a girl. Some decent drum solos in her other videos too, nice find
IMO, the K-On! youtube band should be these guys. Wish I had some kind of editor to overlap the videos, I'm really curious how they would sound together. I wouldn't be surprised if they could outdo the original
So, anybody else agree that Bakemonogatari keep getting better and better? I really wonder how they will end that show, can't really seem to predict any obvious ending.

I disagree, even when I just read vol1 of Bakemonogatari I felt that individual stories had a strong sense of connection. In terms of animes I'd compare it to, I'd probably say xxxHolic. Some consider that to be eclectic without the Tsubasa part of things, but I feel differently. There is an overarching theme in both stories. In fact, if anything, I believe that Bakemonogatari has a stronger connection between individual stories than Holic. That might have to do with the fact that I got to read them in a concentrated dose rather than have to wait on episodes from week to week, since the random hilarious character interactions seem to drown out the more sobering elements when placed that way. That said, that the dude "just likes to help out" is already contrasted a lot of times with both references to how he was previous to the Spring vacation and the different ways people had approached him. That further brings up hints of the his status as a human being, or perhaps, something not of the human world. The struggles were constant, barely visible, but occasionally rising to great prominence (Suruga Monkey's conclusion, anyone?). It both fleshes out his character and introduces a strong theme to the stories.

Or maybe I'm wrong and they're planning on a bunch of episodes without a connection. I would be dissapointed.
The part about connection between episodes I addressed above. I suppose I'll just assure you that, imo, the ending works very well with the feel of the story thus far.
The whole plagiarism thing with China's propaganda department or whatever finally drove me over the edge to watch 5 Centimeters Per Second...and holy shit, I was floored by that movie...
That fucking asshole Shinkai Makoto SERIOUSLY needs to be more active...he's an amazing director...T_T.

It might not have been you, but somebody was having major beef with that, lol.
I realized though, that the actual song they play in the eps has much simpler instrumentation, lol. It's completely different. Go back and take a look, it's pretty funny, lol.
that was probably me.
it doesn't really bother me anymore, but technically the songs played during the show ARE pretty difficult. listen to the intro to "my love is a stapler" (0:11 - 0:14) and then rhythm part immediate after (0:20 - 0:35). theres tons of little fills throughout the song that are also deceptively hard to play
obviously, its easy if you just play the notes, but if you try to replicate the scratching and exact rhythm, its actually really hard. kind of silly to think that yui is playing those parts with her mouth open and staring blankly like a retard
"brush and ballpoint pen" from the last concert also has a fairly difficult rhythm part during the verses when mio is singing (easy to play but really hard to make it sound decent), but its much more believable because sawako is playing it
Ah, I see. I was just rewatching a couple of eps and noticed the difference in instrumentation, so I thought I'd bring it up. You'd know better than me, though. haha.
@Ecael, should I assume you read the Bakemonogatari novels in Japanese? I looked around a bit for translations, but could find none.
@PH, he made at least one other film, I believe. "The Place Promised in Our Early Days" was also pretty amazing. O_O (Of course, this is the opinion of someone who is either bad at understanding things, over-analyzes, or both. -_-)
PH, think of it from another perspective, if we get more of that often we'd be bored pretty damned fast
aznman, yeah, I read it raw. I believe baka-tsuki has a few chapters of kizumonogatari up, but nothing for bakemonogatari. Considering I think there was only one translator doubling as editor, it can take a while.
As for needless, you mean we have something other than the ED to stare at? That every episode isn't just the pretense to give us the ED with!?

Yeah I have that one DL'd too...but haven't gotten around to watching it. Everything else of his are short projects...):

lol, that's one way to look at it...but then there's people like Miyazaki who never fails to entertain with each release.
Makoto Shinkai's 1st work was "voices of a distant star" which was a 30 minute "movie" he made on his laptop. IIRC, the total staff was him, one voice actor (he did some of the voice work), and a pianist for the music.
It's incredibly impressive considering that it had more or less no budget, and is definitely worth watching.
Random lurking: I'm enjoying my way through Zombie Loan right now. It's kind of relaxing after throwing things at the screen at the end of Gantz. FMA and Hellsing are next on my list.

I've managed to dig out the Visual Novel and english translation from the internet, and I have to say, IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!! No really, lots of stuff that wasn't in the anime, more hilarious lines involving Sunohara being beaten up and much more. And they have the gym storage room scene for more characters XD. Also, try to find every character's route before doing Fuko's and Nagisa's. Do Nagisa's last. There's also a plot not in the anime following a guy named Hiiragi Kappei. That's good too. All in all, it is great.

Be sure to get the visual novel for School Days too. Packed with all sorts of goodies.

You mean eroge, school days is 18+. Adult contents. Visual novel tends to suggest that it is all-age. That said, I don't know about what "goodies" it has really, if the aim is to play eroge with good content, I can think of a ton more, albeit not fully animated.
Kappei was an excellent route, largely because we get rid of Ryou. Yay, no more annoying sister. Also, should note the laser tag variations previous to the baseball episode.
Speaking of the baseball episode, we can't not mention Mei. Batting .75, saving errors, and just owning it up. We need a Clannad 2, and she needs to be the main character.

Are you referring to the old/new FMA?
And is there some kind of Hellsing remake? I don't know so much. Sorry. -_-
On a more general note, if I were to considering adding another anime to the list of what I'm currently watching, what would you guys recommend? I'm thinking about Clannad, but I have no idea where to start. How many sub-series are there? o_O
