I'm not sure if stuff like minami-ke is better in manga form or anime, or whichever you see first.
Thanks for the recommendations.
It may be sad, but it's also amazing and incredibly well done.
Yeah, I watched After Story as well. The series was so good as a whole, that I'm seriously thinking about looking into the visual novel when I have some free time.
I've managed to dig out the Visual Novel and english translation from the internet, and I have to say, IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!! No really, lots of stuff that wasn't in the anime, more hilarious lines involving Sunohara being beaten up and much more. And they have the gym storage room scene for more characters XD. Also, try to find every character's route before doing Fuko's and Nagisa's. Do Nagisa's last. There's also a plot not in the anime following a guy named Hiiragi Kappei. That's good too. All in all, it is great.
Be sure to get the visual novel for School Days too. Packed with all sorts of goodies.
You mean eroge, school days is 18+. Adult contents. Visual novel tends to suggest that it is all-age. That said, I don't know about what "goodies" it has really, if the aim is to play eroge with good content, I can think of a ton more, albeit not fully animated.
Kappei was an excellent route, largely because we get rid of Ryou. Yay, no more annoying sister. Also, should note the laser tag variations previous to the baseball episode.
Speaking of the baseball episode, we can't not mention Mei. Batting .75, saving errors, and just owning it up. We need a Clannad 2, and she needs to be the main character.
I usually end up ignoring most of the eroge content because they pale in comparison to the epic storyline that's been set up. Some good ones that fall into that category are Fate/Stay Night, Tsukihime, Ef: A Fairy Tale of the Two. (Pretty damn good), Kanon (fully completed just last month), and Air). Some good work safe ones are: Little Busters!, Kana: Little Sister (PLAY IT IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY and if it doesn't make you cry you're a monster), True Rememberance, Saya no Uta, and Higurashi/Umineko.

Just adding to the quote chain. I installed Clannad a couple days ago, and agree (with the quote quoting me a few up), it's awesome. I've only played a route or two so far, but I'm enjoying it just as much as I enjoyed the anime, if not more, since I actually get a choice as to where the story goes. Though if I understand everything I've read correctly, the After Story portion of the game only covers Nagisa's route, with the other characters making appearances depending on your choices, which is a bit of a bummer. Though I guess there is the Tomoyo game that isn't fully translated yet. I like Tomoyo a lot, and it's the second route I took (after the short Misae), so I'll check it out once it's fully translated, because if I were to say I'm checking it out now, I'm sure my motives would be suspect. But really though, I hope the translation makes good progress, as I really would like to continue the story.
I'll have to check School Days out sooner or later. I'm still rather new to visual novels (eroge included), but I've enjoyed the few I've played immensely. Fate/Stay Night was lengthy and had a great story. I just wiped my hard drive, so I lost my save file, but I had completed the first two paths, and was eventually going to go back for the third. I have less motivation to do so now, but I'm sure I could find a save file somewhere. That and when I was addicted to True Love when I was 12 or so pretty much make up my experience. And the Katawa Shoujo demo, I guess you could include.

Nagisa's route is true route, a fair amount of times when companies make multi-routed games they will add content after completion to indicate which route would be considered as canon. Everyone more or less show up in some way, except I think maybe Kotomi. Tomoyo After's translation has been stalled for a while iirc, but imo that was way better than the true route...well I am also heavily biased against Nagisa.
School Days...meh, I really can't say much about it, there is a lot of drama involved, good and bad. I mostly took the latter F/SN was good, though I never understood people's like of Fate, considering UBW and HF was way better constructed. One of those Type-moon thing about riding the sheer popularity of the main heroine perhaps. Though in terms of T-M, I have to say, Tsukihime=Kagetsu Tohya > Hollow >>> F/SN, if we really need to insert rakkyo I'd say slightly better than the first two. On a more general note, if I were to considering adding another anime to the list of what I'm currently watching, what would you guys recommend? I'm thinking about Clannad, but I have no idea where to start. How many sub-series are there? o_O

Yeah, I know they usually choose one route to be canon, it's just a shame that Nagisa was chosen. And while they went that way with the anime, I was hoping the VN would be different, since they actually had some fleshed out routes for the other heroines. I guess that would have made the game quite a bit longer, though.
As for F/SN, as mentioned, I've only played Fate and UBW. Definitely preferred UBW, but that's mainly because I went into the game not knowing much of anything about it. I expected it to be a standard VN experience, where you could choose your routes right from the start, so I almost immediately set Rin as my choice, and went through quite a bit of Fate with that mindset.

Also OMGWTFOTL for the kicks ^_^
You playing through atlas I assume? A good amount of those things don't have English patches afaik, if LB or LB! Ex has one out though please let me know, have a friend that'd appreciate it a lot. I don't think anyone needs to lecture the t-m fanboy of this thread, me, about how good their work is In terms of big names you got like most of it heh, if you still want more, try out Akabee-soft2's games, particularly gsen and sharin no kuni. Just woke up here so a tad bit lazy to dig through my memory, but there are some really good reading in this area.
LB doesn't have one yet. ETA is by the end of the year, but the team has had some problems with activity. I'll check out Akabee-soft2's stuff, thanks for the recommendation

It may be sad, but it's also amazing and incredibly well done.

Kohaku and her sheer genius is just too much to be denied even if she never managed to beat Arc in popularity polls.
Tsukihime was their best work. I'm still waiting on Mahoutsukai no Yoru though
I haven't played it yet, but I'll definitely add it to the list of ones I have to check out. :D
Is there a place where you can find all this info on visual novels and whatnot? Like how to install and run it, which ones are translated, etc? I want to try one out now after how much everyone's been talking about it, lol.

most probably gonna end with the flashback chapter of Koyomi Vamp, the part where he got turned into a vampire, should be epic...
its definately is an awesome anime with really refreshing visual style and colors, only problems i have with it.... is that why is all the main character in each chapters female? its like girls have some sort of super-natural magentism, it certainly however has the feeling of a harem, 2 girls showed their body naked to the main character already -.-
anyhow... aside from the slight pedo aspect of this show, i love it even thought i di nget get most of the word play on the language, i hate waiting every week for just a single episode : /

Ef doesn't have an English patch out. Only chapter 1 is done. I used a combination of Atlas and my own rather fail ability to translate Japanese. Going is slow

Actually some time over the summer I actually just drew up this huge list of what the heck to check, unfortunately I've literally made no progress on that, I'll toss a copy up if I see it...don't even know where I stuffed it, might've been on the crashed raid array...Shame that LB! Ex has yet to be translated though, people I know are anal about English and bleed from all orifices of their bodies when forced to read Atlas.
That or gsen was a retarded choice to stuff someone using Atlas. Clearly the program's fault, nothing to do with me not thinking aboutt it ><
Actually, on the matter of atlas sucking, that does remind me of a company. Liar-soft, particularly the steam line of games. I'll go find the info later. The Japanese is so convoluted that it should be fine being fed through Atlas~
Tsukihime was insane, though I am still of the opinion that if we can count Rakkyo that beats Tsukihime. The back side routes were where most of the best stuff were though, Ciel's was pathetic (Ciel =< Sakura, somehow, the latter has HF, the former has a happy ending that every doujin writer uses because it is a convenient one to use, difference is clear), dragging down the awesomeness that Arc was. I watched the anime first during hs, then got to read the original during college, have to say that the anime was just pathetic in comparison. Their skill in animating works seems to be getting better and better though
Oh, yes, So no fek, Mahoutsukai no yoru has yet to be released, watch rakkyo and play tsukihime over and over and over again before it does. The other all-age game looked really interesting too graphic direction wise.

Ef is hopeless, too epic yet too niche spanned across 2 games, you can become proficient enough in Japanese to read it in the time it'll take to see proper translation patches out.

I don't think this constitute as a spoiler since anyone can check wiki and official site, but they didn't mention anything about Koyomi Vamp in terms of DVD, if we are only going to see online stream releases, then it is more likely that we'll see ova-esque stuff. At least, I am hoping for that. Koyomi Vamp took place over the whole of Kizumonogatari, a whole book by itself, if they use that 3~4 episodes for it, I'll freak and hurt people ><
About that Harem feeling, well, this is how light novels work. Get used to it. Can't escape it. After all, the target demographic dictates content too :p
apparently they're making a movie out of Fate/Stay Night... the anime was pretty decent, never really quite played the game nor read the visual novel though, didn't really quite think the games would be better than the anime. I guess it must have been quite popular in japan if its getting made into a movie..
I liked the F/SN anime enough to get the visual novel (since it had a really nice, easy, idiot-proof translation patch), and I will say that it was worth it to get. I especially liked the Unlimited Blade Works arc from the visual novel.

You are clearly wrong, this works similar to the movie industry, the original is almost always better.

Not HF? As much as I hate Sakura I prefered HF to UBW to Fate :p
Ugh, I can't find CG #2 from Minori in Brass Restoration. I've gotten all the good endings and that's the only CG I'm missing, so I dunno what I did wrong. Backspacing through choices and deliberately tracking down bad endings doesn't seem to help.
Not sure if I should mention this, but I spent most of the day playing Sengoku Rance. It wasn't the "story" that drew me to the game (the little game synopsis that came with the download was meh/10), but the actual game of it. And holy hell is it addicting. I've always loved any type of simulation game, messing with stats, or managing armies and such. Granted it's not as deep as some games, it's actually a whole mess of fun, with a decent combat system. The actual storyline of the game is pretty decent too.
The amount of 18+ content in the game is pretty laughable though. They're more or less throwing as much as they possibly can in your face. Not going into my own perversions, I'd play the game just as much as I am now if it had been an all ages game.
