If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

I'd say most people get turned off by a wall of text though. And really there's nothing disturbing about adding some pictures. I think Blasterion did it good in his summary

unless im mistaken, full moon, elfen lied and kodomo are missing from the big picture http://i.imgur.com/fdwm4.jpg

also 4th from the bottom under Fantasy there is no text title for the anime listed

why would bad animes be missing from our chart

that missing text would be

Kemono no Souja

someone should add that

Why would you need pictures to make a wall of text attractive? Almost detracts from the value of one.

distracting from the wall is the purpose

and pictures make it easier to relate to the scenes discribed

well elfen lied is undisputebly extremely popular
full moon is in the top 5 of animeinfos top 200 list
and kodomo fantastically made if you didnt get put off by the first episode and watched till the end
i cried in all 3 iirc

Just curious, where is that picture from?

Finished watching all the Anohana eps up till now. Good stuff.

Hoshizora sucks as eroge and anime. Oretsuba adaptation has been...curious, they have managed to keep a lot of the original game's allure in the funny bantering, but the amount of fanservice it throws in the viewer's way can be a turnoff. The way it handled the plot has rather confused me and Southlight, but it makes sense after a fashion so you don't really hear anyone complaining.

That and it is random as fuck, lolol cake.

Figured as much, concerning Hoshizora. But sometimes you never know, things start out shit/dull, and give you a wonderful what the fuck moment towards the end!

Downloading the Oretsuba episodes now, will give it a go. You piqued my interest somewhat. I guess you've played the VN aswell, and are comparing the adaption to the source material?

Elfen Lied is popular because of soem simple reasons.

lots of blood
lots of naked girls
some girl making cutesy sounds all day long

but really those things dont make it a good anime.

I really tried watching Kodomo no Jikan but after half the first season I just lost interest. Maybe I will give it another try but really I didnt care much about it when i first watched it and I am not sure if that would change.

I went through like 3/6 routes on Hoshizora before being bored out of my mind I think, personally I thought Feng's direction with Akaneiro no somaru saka was better.

As for Oretsuba, yeah I played the game. They are handling the storytelling very differently from how the game has done it, but so far it is more or less holding up. I'll probably have to wait till the end to be able to judge the success to this approach well.

btw, the part about animes is a reference to another poster in the thread, most of us would in fact pluralize it that way

well im not here to argue, just wanted to point out those three in as neutral fashion as possible whilst them still being three of my favourites. as someone who is a fan of death note, higurashi and kaiji, i would expect people to also enjoy elfen lied, kodomo and full moon and if i made a list they would all be on it together.

also laputa should be on there if it isnt :D

Elfen lied and kodomo are horrible. How can you even compare these 2 to something like death note. I don't know what full moon is so i can't say anything about that.

A very iconic and popular Arina Tanemura manga. But if you're not familiar with shoujo, you might not know of it.

Am I a horrible person for liking Elfen Lied more than Death Note? Elfen Lied was seriously a really fun enjoyable show to watch. I guess it wasn't a "good" show if you mean thought provoking, or non-trashy, or particularly rewatchable. But in terms of being entertaining, I would certainly recommend Elfen Lied. It's just that the fanbase is horrible and tried to make a show that does a great job at being a dumb, fun show, into something it isn't.

Yeah, I think you are confusing it with HanTsuki (hanbun no tsuki ga noboru sora), which is an excellent series in its own right.
