Bakemonogatari is pretty hard, a lot of what Hitagi bash Araragi for are based on Japanese grammar and such, not to mention there being ample amounts of reference to words, how they are read and written, etc. I just plain turned off sub and refer to the novel whenever I am confused now, really.
About the manga guide, if memory serves, there is one for statistics too, among other subjects.
As for figurines, Japanese local shipping + deputy service will likely work out far better than Play-Asia, they responded so sharply to the exchange rates it wasn't funny. The prices you can get on amazon and such + free local shipping (etc etc) will more than cancel out the handling fees from the service. Good luck explaining it though, might well be the reason that I never got the katana wielding Shiki figurine.

I still don't see why the hate for it, honestly 
Been reading Bakemonogatari these few days, if it is 15 episodes, we might have a chance of seeing materials not in the first two volumes, which would be a treat. Having to wait to season two for + Show Spoiler +Shinobu (or rather, Heart Under Blade) and the events during Spring vacation

because it took them 2 years to give us the same episode 8 different times. Because they overplayed a shit arc over ones that might actually be interesting. Because they are trading on their name/reputation.
Season 1 was absolutely amazing. This season hasnt been even 1/16th as good. Its like the lamest troll by any animation studio ever. If they feel a need to do 8 filler episodes, they could at least be different episodes. Now even if every future episode is good, when you reccomend the series to a friend you'll always have to be "Oh, just skip those 8 episodes in Season 2"

Why do you keep on insisting that the alternatives will be better and that this is completely pointless? I thought episode 00 of Suzumiya was junk when I first watched, when I rewatched I enjoyed it a lot more. After I read the books I thought that episode was absolutely brilliant. With additional knowledge you will be in such a better position to make your claims. I am not about to claim that Endless Eight was brilliant in any way, since even a perfectly pulled off Disappearance won't save it, but that's a lot of negativity when you can hardly point at their intention.
We can call them filler episodes when the rest of the season comes out, considering they have zero reason to make fillers, I find the complaint to be fairly odd. They can be botched attempts for something, but fillers?
Depending on how the rest of the season turns out, I can potentially say a lot of things. But I will say them when the rest of the season shows up, instead of making claims now about how KyoAni has fucked up completely when I know nothing about what else will come in the anime. If they screw up, it won't be only because of Endless Eight. If they do well, the Endless Eight won't be so much a scar as it would be a minor embarrassment.

I just finished Clannad and now I'm on ~After story... I'm on episode 12 and it's getting kind of boring, does it pick up in the later episodes?
Apparently theres a movie as well not sure though, anyone can clarify? I watched the two OVAs already since I like those couple schemes better than the main one.

Watching the first 7 of Endless Eight in one day is a real trip. I can't believe I couldn't get myself to stop. I guess there are just too many questions that need answering.

By Toei, I'd suggest you not bothering with it. If people thought Kyou route was rushed, they evidently haven't seen the movie version.
And yeah seriously, why is the true end Nagisa. Key has disappointed in Kanon and Clannad and there isn't much in the way of true singular heroine route in LB (but Rin qualifies!). I fear rewrite will be the same, oh well ><

Minor embarassment? When the director of the first season apologized about how Endless Eight is going, how can it only be minor? What is the point of making 8 of the 14 new episodes about an arc that only repeated once in the light novel? AFAIK isn't Endless Eight about an endless August and not about an eight episode arc? It's just silly to give Endless Eight another meaning. Episodes 2-7 of Endless Eight didn't add anything of value to furthering the plot whatsoever. You were no better at the end of the episode than at the beginning and episode 1 is sufficient to tell you that in the fact that they did it already 14,597 times. Why do we need 14,599 and 15,513 and 15,527? At least in a standard filler, there's something original being done whether good or bad, but this is just rehashing the same period over and over again.
Is Disappearance even confirmed for this season? It seems that Sighs and Disappearance are supposed to come up. With five more episodes left, can they fit it in? It just seems that they may pushed it off into another season.
Whatever. I just looked into some forums to see if the Endless Eight episode 8 is truly the end. (Why do I even bother posting spoilers?)

The thing about the director of the first season is overblown, he was out of the company already, who is he to talk? He might have looked and felt responsibility for whatever reason, but his words carry no weight - he has had no power over season two. People are putting a lot of weight on his words, for what reason? The title of an ex-director who hasn't been associated with directing since, if memory serves, partly through Lucky Star? That's a long time ago.
For the meaning of Endless Eight, you can judge when it is all over. I am not going to defend this point over and over again. At the end of the season, if things do look horrid, I will gladly join you bashing the second season. All I can say is this, I've read them all, the repetition does add something far as I am concerned, they made it overkill when they released 8 episodes on it. However, again, I am not going to wail now about it. Plenty of time when the season is over.
Disappearance isn't confirmed, though every publicity stunt KyoAni had done up to date involves Disappearance. If they don't do it, then it isn't Endless Eight that's the issue, it is the fact that they aren't cashing in on Disappearance. That is pretty much my point. Sighs can never see the light of day for all I care, episode 00 was enough.

Like I said, the entire rest of the season can be amazing and thats not suddenly going to make the endless eight arc any less shitty. It wasnt an amazing plot to begin with and to carry it on for eight episodes is not only stupid, but will guarantee the vast majority of fans will consider the entire arc a failure.

What makes you capable of judging something that you don't know in its entirety? The rest of the season can at least offer a reason why Endless Eight was done, and you can consider the merits or the demerits on your own instead of insisting that there is no possible way for it to have any meaning. If you really feel it is necessary to claim that it is a failure, go right ahead. Until the season ends and my opinions form properly, I will have to disagree with you.

Wow what a pointless discussion you guys are having haha. I really do not want to join in but it's a bit naive thinking that Haruhi season 2 could turn out well (as if even the first season did). KyoAni loves to troll their fans and you guys are just taking the bait over and over again.
On a completely unrelated note Phantom is giving me the chills. It just gets better and better, I'm at the point where I wish I waited until it finished airing so I could marathon it instead. I haven't seen anything this exciting since CASSHERN. I'm also a bit skeptical to if I should try to finish Mazinger and Basquash!. I presume not many follow them around these parts (since all we do is discuss kyoani shows) but they both feel like a chore to continue with. Robots isn't really my thing, I couldn't even handle watching Gundam 00 or Gundam SEED .

Agreed. Phantom along with Eden is probably my favorite show this year. Doesn't get enough love.

Shauni, if I have a reputation against Eva, then your attitude toward KyoAni kind of stands out too. If Evan was predisposed to thinking that Haruhi season 2 will fail, you are predisposed to believe that all KyoAni's productions will fail. :p
Nothing wrong with that, but to have you suggest that the 'discussion' is pointless is rather amusing. Besides, it is simply my attitude toward most things, I dislike people piping about a series being screwed in the middle of it, that's about it.
Eden I am just waiting on the movies, since I can't really stand watching something to have it kind of wrapped up...but still need movies to close up properly. As for Phantom, hm, never really got into it.
Not being able to watch SEED is nothing to be ashamed of :D 00 is better, but I suspect a lot of the anti-mecha folks will prefer 08th MS Team to it.
