Raising the stakes is just HARD in this, I mean it would be brutal to start killing off crew members, its not really a No Holds Barred GoT sort of manga, they used a wad of that on Ace and obviously that worked insanely well, but he was a Friend Of The Crew type, not a main crew member, I wouldnt mind seeing some deaths and sacrifices but Im not sure it should come from the crew, some members of the vast interconnected network of friends the Straw Hats make could serve as death-sad-times fodder to show that pirating isn't a strictly fun and games fist fight profession, but I think that card has to really be used sparingly in a manga as lighthearted as One Piece generally is

I just wish oda gave new world the proper treatment. One strawhat has to die for reals. He knows all too well that killing off a strawhat member will easily send some fans into downward spiral | ||

I doubt that anybody who read One Piece from the start is under 30 now. Yet it still seems to cater to the shounen democgraphic. It's not that he got old, it's just that One Piece didn't grow up with the readers. That said, new chapter is excellent. It ties up a few loose ends, plenty of nostalgia, shame that + Show Spoiler + it looks like everyone on the rooftop got defeated by kaido offscreen | ||

King doesn't seem to care about stopping Zoro or Marco, which is weird. I'm fairly sure he will do so, since Zoro really has no purpose in reaching the top now that everybody else has been wiped off. | ||
