Their family is quite dysfunctional all things considered and Big Mom places a lot of emphasis on things being beautiful and perfect. Being harassed for your looks and trying to present yourself as being perfect and harassing others is a contradiction of sorts, but it's a very human contradiction. | ||

That is true, but how do you decide what is freakish when freakish seems to be the norm with Big Mom's children? In our society people look so much alike that little stuff like the distance between your eyes can be an easy distinction. Big Mom's society contains a world of diversity, how do you even have a concept of physical normality when your brothers and sisters are all mixes of different races? It could very well be that the family doesn't know any better because they were taught by Big Mom to fear ineptitude. | ||

Who exactly is "Being harassed for your looks and trying to present yourself as being perfect and harassing others". Not that it matters. We aren't talking about real life. That someone has a big mouth or a third eye is notable in real life, but not notable in Big mom's family, nor notable in the wider One Piece world. Which is why it is odd. It's doubly strange considering that niether could be born covered up by clothing/hair, but then again its one piece. It really makes no sense at all, just like it makes no sense that dogtooth simply didn't decide to kill those who were laughing at his face, but killed those who just happened to see it. It's a definite contradiction to the normal One Piece logic where even stranger appearances are regarded as normal, yet we are supposed to believe that an utterly drop dead gorgeous woman would be regarded as ugly for a third eye, and a well respected 2nd in command of a yonkou would be so ruthlessly mocked for something which is quite frankly almost normal looking in the One Piece world, and quite normal looking compared to the rest of his family. For instance he looks less freakish that the wierd blob shaped sister that made fun of his mouth. I can't even imagine the anatomy of the sister whilst dogtooth has a easy to imagine anatomy. | ||

I think its more about his generally displayed perfect image, and the lone relatively minor flaw just being exaggerated when associated with a formerly flawless image. | ||
