But you have to understand that this is what Oda's audience wants. The same people who read One Piece also love mangas like Naruto and DBZ meaning that they will buy more volumes if One Piece becomes more like them. If it were up to me, there would be no gears, haki wouldn't make your limbs iron and crazy power levels wouldn't exist. But I belong to a niche market and the general masses want more super saiyan, more "epic" powerups and more concrete power levels on which they can rank all the characters in a nice, organized list going from the strongest to the weakest. | ||

Literally none of that exists in one piece, and as I posted before, the power levels are still yet to go beyond the pre established upper limits (Mihawk cuts a ship in half, Shanks and Whitebeard split the sky) The crew are catching up, but thats all they're doing, catching up. When Luffy starts destroying entire islands with a single punch we can talk about ridiculous scaling  EDIT: I mean, gear second and third wernt even linear power ups, its not like gear third > gear second, and it might not be that gear fourth is necessarily greater than either (though I agree it probably will) but we should actually wait for it to show up before we just arbitrarily accuse oda of going Kishi on us | ||
