If you watch him he only turns the part of his body to diamond which he needs for fighting or protect himself. I think this is a part of how a high level pirates fights, if he was to turn his whole body to diamond he would probably suffer movement issues. Marco also fights this way, dont you think its strange marcro acutally doesnt strike anyone with his phoenix form, i think it only has regenerative abilities and anything will passthrough (unless haki). so you always ever see him striking someone with a human part of his body | ||

bottom line is in a manga/anime, it needs to look cool. So whatever it takes to look great is good.. You think Jizou would look cool if his whole boddy is glittering the whole time?! course not, only cool if he turns once in awhile. You think marco would look cool if he's just entire body of a funny looking glass bird?! course not, only cool if he turns once in awhile. You think daz bones would look cool if his body is always a blade that cuts through his cloth? Or that the Logia admirals always in their elemental form? Unless something is explicitly stated we can assume either way and be ok. I think the only explicit thing said about being a logia type is able to turn ones body into elemental form on instinct to dodge attacks once the user gets good enough | ||
