When you leave the slate completely clean on each character and don't develop them at all, it gives you the magical ability to suddenly put any back story you want into that character. I can see what you're saying with the Kenpachi thing, but the strength of Unohana hasn't been in question for a very long time. We've all known that she is one of the oldest and strongest, and the data books have always said that her combat rating is only rivaled by Zaraki and someone else. As for the rest, it does make you wonder about his writing. | ||

Or maybe you prefer the main character fight the same power level enemies the entire time so it's more realistic? | ||

That escaped from me too. Probably because that twist is weird on the level of "unohana is actually ichigos mother", you heard it here first. | ||

It doesn't take much more skill in order to beat someone convincingly (top level Starcraft is a good example of this, any games between Flash/Jaedong/Bisu). Espadas aren't actually that much more powerful than the Captains back from the SS arc, if they ever were at all. Ichigo didn't become immune to cero blasts, he has just learned how to properly deflect them without getting hurt. Shunpo is still just as useful in fighting as it was from its introduction. Everyone is much more even in skill and strength than the manga makes them appear. (Just my personal view, no official confirmation at all) | ||
