I wonder whether Kubo was lampshading his own battle manga style with that chapter. I'm not even kidding, Kenpachi just saved like 20 chapters' worth of battles and listed out some tropes. One guy=apeshit or whatever, other just kept talking about his powers, third guy turned into me herp. | ||

At least the series made some kind of sense back then. Newer arcs are basically Dragon Ball Z: newer enemies with increasingly stronger powers. By the end of the current arc, Ichigo will have become so strong that he'd defeat Aizen by merely sneezing in his general direction, making his heroic sacrifice in order to defeat said rogue captain look rather stupid. | ||

I'm reminded of a quote in a Book I've read recently basically making fun of something like this.
