The Lovely Bones - This movie with make you incredibly angry and sad at the same time. Being a father, this whole movie left an awful feeling in my chest and stomach. Although it was a decent movie, I will NEVER watch this again. Left me sad for a week.

The Clone Returns Home
![[image loading]](http://www.ianlynam.com/cms/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/clone.jpg) Not your average SF flick, atleast not in the eyes of the average viewer. Discusses the ethical and spiritual dilemmas with cloning. Though it might be hard to grasp for a non religious person I found it quite serene and thoughtful. It progresses slowly, with similarities in pacing to Solaris, 2001 and Stalker, if you are to compare it to other SF movies. I'd compare it a bit to Moon too, since they both deal with cloning, but they tackle it in different ways. I'd also say that Moon is flashy compared to this movie, so if you thought Moon was slow or boring, skip this. The acting might not be the most stellar either, atleast not from the main character, but the story itself and the general movie itself makes up for it. Recommended.

Just watched this infamous movie with some friends. Despite its reputation, I didn't find it particularly disturbing -- but i might just be desensitized to the stuff. Outside its unusually explict sexual and violent content, I thought it was an actually pretty "normal" film in every other sense. That is to say, it was also sort of mediocre -- despite its interesting premise.
5.8/10 for me.
For me people interested in looking into korean cinema, I will rank some of the better mainstream movies.
Memories of murder, 8.7/10: I maintain this is the best korean mainstream movie ever made. It gets better with subsequent viewing. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring, 8.4/10: The director's best film -- and the most approachable. A uniquely korean movie. Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance 8.4/10: Starker than Oldboy, I think this movie is a slightly better piece of film than its famed counterpart. Old boy 8.2/10: Entertaining and with great flair, the movie imo represents the pinnacle of movie-making in the conventional, non-art film context. Peppermint Candy 7.8/10: Very well-written, highly literate movie. Attack the gas station 7.6/10: Not only is it a hilarious movie, it is also very very smart. JSA: Joint Security Area 7.5/10: Although its deficiencies were too blatant for me, it is also a very powerful, moving film. Failan 7.2/10: Poignant movie with very good leads (including star of Oldboy). Tazza the high rollers 7/10: Sort of mindless, but highly entertaining and stylish movie. Samaria 7.5/10: Ok this isn't very mainstream but I thought it was a very elegant movie despite its controversial themes. Chaser 7/10: A more than proficient serial killer flick.
For reference, for me, most Tarkovsky films are in 9-10 range and citizen kane a 9.3.

Watched The Boondock Saints and Lucky Number Slevin yesterday. Both very good movies, with a good amount of comedy and shootings. The humor is very dark, so it's not for everyone.

Just saw this last night. See it in imax if possible but this movie was just great for any fan of fantasy, scifi, action type movies. The visuals are top notch and the fight choreography was done really well. The acting isn't always the best but it suffices given the over the top feel of the movie. The music was also really good. Although I am the target demographic (as i predict many of you are as well) i don't understand the negative reviews. My wife loved it as well as my two older brothers who aren't into video games/scifi/fantasy at all. Anyone else seen it?
8.5/10 from me.

Nice list phosphorylation, haven't seen all of those but the ones I did I would rate somewhat in this order, maybe Oldboy a spot or two higher.

FUCK.
Do not watch this bullshit unless you enjoyed Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Why the fuck do they even make these movies?
It's like a live-action movie of Bleach.

2001: Space odyssey
Such a weird movie, complicated to understand. Well Arthur C. Clarke said, "If you understand '2001' completely, we failed". I think i understood it but not sure :[

I watched No Country For Old Men the other day. Fuckin awesome. 9.5/10.
After reading some of these bad reviews (Inglorious Basterds, The Social Network), I don't feel like I can trust any of them.

Casshern
What was I expecting? Yet another crappy Ninja Assassin/Power Rangers bullshit. What I got? Gothic/Steampunk vistas straight out of WH40K, Kurosawa's Dreams powerful and twisted imagery, Blade Runner'ish dark futuristic dystopia, moral discussion similar to the one in Starship Troopers (but this one focusing more on war than totalitarian governments/autocratic societies). Really, this movie has exceeded my expectations so much that I have even trouble judging it. A very solid filmmaking right here. Looking forward to more of the Kazuaki Kiriya's works (like Goemon).
Strongly recommended if you like long movies that get you to think and are a bit twisted. Definitely not recommended for action/humour junkies.

![[image loading]](http://www.filmofilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/elite_squad_ver3.jpg) Elite Squad - Liked this alot. My only gripe is the ending, felt too abrupt. Has anyone seen Elite Squad 2? how was it?

Hah Incredibles is one of Pixar's best films - it's hard for anyone to top that. Rango is a spaghetti western at heart, so if you don't like that genre, I can see how you wouldn't be interested. TBH, Rango surprised me when I saw it, simply b/c the trailer's deceivingly made it out to be a silly film - and basically went in with lowered expectations. But when you actually see it, you'll realize how the trailer completely misrepresents the movie...now trailer's misrepresenting films is not a new thing, but it's something I have to mention, for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
April is an odd time for horror movies, but I'm gonna try to see Insidious this weekend :D

Probably the best horror film I've seen in a long time. Great execution in maintaining the atmosphere and tension throughout.

Just recently watched the Kill Bill movies (old I know). If you haven't seen them: watch them!! If you have seen them: watch them again!! They were freaking awesome.
