I just saw Tron: Legacy, great movie... I did not expect much from it but it blew my mind, and the soundtrack is amazing as well (although it doesnt sound the same as in the movie)

Casshern

What was I expecting? Yet another crappy Ninja Assassin/Power Rangers bullshit.
What I got? Gothic/Steampunk vistas straight out of WH40K, Kurosawa's Dreams powerful and twisted imagery, Blade Runner'ish dark futuristic dystopia, moral discussion similar to the one in Starship Troopers (but this one focusing more on war than totalitarian governments/autocratic societies).
Really, this movie has exceeded my expectations so much that I have even trouble judging it. A very solid filmmaking right here. Looking forward to more of the Kazuaki Kiriya's works (like Goemon).

Strongly recommended if you like long movies that get you to think and are a bit twisted. Definitely not recommended for action/humour junkies.

Saw it a few years ago. It's a really good movie, not suited to everyone tho.
Love the OST.

Last movie I saw so far:

Decent adaptation of the Graphic Novels (Great ones, by the way). I really liked the cast and the music they picked (Loved the scene with Metric plus Brie Larson song 'Black Sheep').
I'll say it's good enough to have a good time watching it.

Equilibrium: this movie was just awesome. I never heard about it and I'm surprised that not that many people know it.

yes, this was a great movie. If I remember correctly it came out right around when the matrix first released so I think it ended up getting overshadowed quite a bit, which was unfortunate as I think I prefer its storyline.

It's like a movie adaptation of 1984 or fahrenheit 451, I thought it was extremely corny. The gun-cata thing was really stupid.

More, less or equally stupid as 'kung fu upload'?

The Matrix has its quirks too. Doesn't change the fact they're both great movies, portraying different facets of S-F.

Come to think of it, I might create a blog about worthwile S-F movies created post 2000. Not really anything of the Bladerunner caliber there, but still there were some interesting titles, most of them missed the glory of summer blockbuster movies though so not everyone might know about them.

Rewatched Donny Darko one of my favourite movies last weekend. I highly recommend it. It really makes you think, a great plot, and a great soundtrack, one of the best.

A Scanner Darkly - Loved the animation in this. Curious about the book now.

Infernal Affairs - Enjoyed this way more then The Departed. Need to check out the other Infernal Affairs movies now.

Green Zone - Thought this was pretty good. Finally, a war movie about Iraq that doesn't bullshit me.

I didn't really like Scott Pilgrim. Not a fan of Michael Cera though (in ANY movie). I'm a big fan of Metric though.

Hanna now... I *loved* it.

9.5/10

Great movie, lots of action, not stupid action for the most part, smart characters, I loved Saoirse so much. Amazing music too. I grabbed the soundtrack afterwards, and I almost never do that.

Highly recommend. I can't wait for Hanna 2.

I've watched a few movies over the past few weeks.
1) Sucker Punch
Awesome visuals, decent fight scenes, really strange story which appealed to me. Oh, and hot chicks.
The bad--The story line cuts in and out too often, you never get to see her dance (trance mode..)

I'll post the rest in a few

Requiem for a Dream (2000)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0180093/

I really start to love Darren Aronofskys work. After seeing Black Swan, which I also highly recommend, I saw this gem for the first time. Really touching movie especially if you have experienced drugs in the past. Ellen Burstyn was awesome in her role and
Marlon Wayans whom i only knew from Scary Movie surprised me with his good
performance aswell.

Just saw this last night. See it in imax if possible but this movie was just great for any fan of fantasy, scifi, action type movies. The visuals are top notch and the fight choreography was done really well. The acting isn't always the best but it suffices given the over the top feel of the movie. The music was also really good. Although I am the target demographic (as i predict many of you are as well) i don't understand the negative reviews. My wife loved it as well as my two older brothers who aren't into video games/scifi/fantasy at all. Anyone else seen it?

8.5/10 from me.

Just saw this movie and IMO it deserves all the negative reviews it's getting. The action scenes have so little cohesiveness to the plot that you wonder if you're still seeing the same movie. The storyline started off okay, up to the first "dance" part, which of course ends up being some crap about her imagination and introduces you to the action element of the movie. If it wasn't for her being half-naked throughout the action scenes they would be 1000x worse.

Don't waste your time or money on this film.

It's all about expectations. It's a pretty brainless action film. But I like it for what it is. I was disappointed by the story however despite that haha. A bunch of over-the-top action scenes loosely strung together by a paper thin plot. Like Family Guy gags.

If you've seen the classic Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa and liked it, you will surely like this too.

Lame Netflix doesn't have any DVDs in stock for it, just got done with 5 akira movies in a row (really enjoyed Yojimbo and Sanjuro). Thanks for suggestion.

Score:A Hockey Musical - loved it not a huge hockey fan but I an a fan of musicals and it was wonderfully canadian. Enjoyed the cameos as well. Was laughing through a good portion of it if I remember correctly.

The Mechanic - about what you'd expect, not a huge fan of the ending but the movie does have a nice sort of rule of two theme to it which I found amusing.

burlesque -story felt very disneyesque with a slightly more adult setting. Casting was nicely done I suppose.
rejection and peace tiramisu. I think that went well.
