Gothic/Steampunk vistas straight out of WH40K, Kurosawa's Dreams powerful and twisted imagery, Blade Runner'ish dark futuristic dystopia, moral discussion similar to the one in Starship Troopers (but this one focusing more on war than totalitarian governments/autocratic societies). Really, this movie has exceeded my expectations so much that I have even trouble judging it. A very solid filmmaking right here. Looking forward to more of the Kazuaki Kiriya's works (like Goemon). Strongly recommended if you like long movies that get you to think and are a bit twisted. Definitely not recommended for action/humour junkies. Saw it a few years ago. It's a really good movie, not suited to everyone tho. Love the OST. Last movie I saw so far: ![]() Decent adaptation of the Graphic Novels (Great ones, by the way). I really liked the cast and the music they picked (Loved the scene with Metric plus Brie Larson song 'Black Sheep'). I'll say it's good enough to have a good time watching it.

If I remember correctly it came out right around when the matrix first released so I think it ended up getting overshadowed quite a bit, which was unfortunate as I think I prefer its storyline.

More, less or equally stupid as 'kung fu upload'? The Matrix has its quirks too. Doesn't change the fact they're both great movies, portraying different facets of S-F. Come to think of it, I might create a blog about worthwile S-F movies created post 2000. Not really anything of the Bladerunner caliber there, but still there were some interesting titles, most of them missed the glory of summer blockbuster movies though so not everyone might know about them.

![]() Hanna now... I *loved* it. 9.5/10 Great movie, lots of action, not stupid action for the most part, smart characters, I loved Saoirse so much. Amazing music too. I grabbed the soundtrack afterwards, and I almost never do that. Highly recommend. I can't wait for Hanna 2.

1) Sucker Punch Awesome visuals, decent fight scenes, really strange story which appealed to me. Oh, and hot chicks. The bad--The story line cuts in and out too often, you never get to see her dance (trance mode..) I'll post the rest in a few

![]() Requiem for a Dream (2000) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0180093/ I really start to love Darren Aronofskys work. After seeing Black Swan, which I also highly recommend, I saw this gem for the first time. Really touching movie especially if you have experienced drugs in the past. Ellen Burstyn was awesome in her role and Marlon Wayans whom i only knew from Scary Movie surprised me with his good performance aswell.

The action scenes have so little cohesiveness to the plot that you wonder if you're still seeing the same movie. The storyline started off okay, up to the first "dance" part, which of course ends up being some crap about her imagination and introduces you to the action element of the movie. If it wasn't for her being half-naked throughout the action scenes they would be 1000x worse. Don't waste your time or money on this film. It's all about expectations. It's a pretty brainless action film. But I like it for what it is. I was disappointed by the story however despite that haha. A bunch of over-the-top action scenes loosely strung together by a paper thin plot. Like Family Guy gags.

Lame Netflix doesn't have any DVDs in stock for it, just got done with 5 akira movies in a row (really enjoyed Yojimbo and Sanjuro). Thanks for suggestion.

The Mechanic - about what you'd expect, not a huge fan of the ending but the movie does have a nice sort of rule of two theme to it which I found amusing. burlesque -story felt very disneyesque with a slightly more adult setting. Casting was nicely done I suppose.
