honorable mention for star wars vii but i kind of consider those kind of movies to be part of a series rather than just an individual movie.

2. Victoria 3. The Hateful Eight 4. Ex Machina 5. The Martian The first two I rate as really good, the rest is entertaining but nothing special. 2015 sucked as a whole imo. Much weaker than 2014 where we got treated with Boyhood, Birdman, Grand Budapest Hotel, Nightcrawler, Whiplash, Interstellar and some solid stuff behind that.

It was a special movie for me.. in times of fast, action paced and/or comic movies get more and more popular. I enjoyed the Bear Scene =D

This is one example... you would think just climbing to the top of a vista after being in 30 degree water with an open throat gash for 20 minutes... then making a fish catcher in water for 50 minutes ... then making a fire and keeping his fur dry should have been epic enough, but no... then he needs to see a buffalo stampede and wolves kill one. If this were a die hard movie made by michael bay .. fuck yeah id be ok.

I like these kind of witch hunting movies. Nothing to write home about but there weren't many problems either. If you like 1 man action movies like Taken with many 1v1s this will appeal to you. + Show Spoiler + The not all witches are evil theme is overdone. I guess if there were a time to use the word cliche now would be it. The movie tries hard to set itself up for a sequel that probably will never come Apocalypto Not always what you expect which is pretty cool. The shots were well done. I liked some logical aspects of the movie. Definitely too much coincidence but it's not all Rambo where the bad guys miss all their shots as the good guy kills everyone with a chicken or something. Not enough films in this setting. Fall of the Mayan empire and a small story in the subtext of this context. In retrospect I think the movie's theme, and some might argue against me on this, is that the Mayan Empire deserved to be taken over by Christian Conquerors.

There were so many brilliant choices in the movie (I know it was adapted closely to the book) and I think more than any of the other films nominated for directing, it had the largest chance to go awry. George Miller probably deserves it for the scope of what he did, but Room was exceptional in that area too. Cinematography for that matter, too. Mad Max might have been better, but I don't think it has a chance to win given the nature of it. FWIW having seen all the nominated films, I'd put Room, Mad Max and Spotlight at the top.

I watched Mad Max Fury Road yesterday and was disappointed tbh. The action is pretty good, there are very nice shots in this movie but everything else? Meh. Would rate it with a 7/10 so still a good movie for its look, but absolutely overhyped as fuck tbh. Her Very good movie about love and feelings in general. The (near?) future is pictured very nicely without being the focus of the film, the acting is superb. One of the better movies for sure. 8.5/10

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Origins: Wolverine. That fight scene at the end was just... wow

First Class was great though and Days of Future Past was a pretty fun movie as well, so I'm looking forward to Apocalypse. Also the Deadpool movies looks like it could finally be the R-rated, 4th-wall-breaking, antihero movie that you'd expect out of a movie with Deadpool in it

The main actress not being even somewhat good looking felt a bit disappointing imo. For me a few reasons: -I like movies about crime -I like REALISTIC movies about crime -The music was spot on and gave scenes where necessary an extra amount of tension -I think especially Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin had interesting characters and they played them very well (the rest varied from well payed to adequate but the characters were less interesting). -I was pleased to see that the movie makers were willing to go for the macabre "fuck happy endings" way. These factors combined made me feel for the hopelessness of the main character's situation. Especially the convoy scene and the tunnel scene felt very intense. Besides that the reason I appreciate these kind of grim realistic crime movies (think Cidade de Deus, Gomorrah) is because they don't attempt to make crime look cool or charming (like the Godfather for example). Real gangsters aren't smooth talking motherfuckers in tailor made suits that have happy family dinners and bring flowers for their mothers. No they are more like these guys depicted in Sicario + Show Spoiler + ![]() And again man the soundtrack. Just tell me that shit isn't intense... TLDR: I liked it because it's right up my alley.

Movie was okay. Good enough for me to watch the next one in theatres. Also helps that I'm a Andy Dwyer fanboy.

There's the X-Men Origins: Wolverine from 2009 and Wolverine from 2013. The second one was created because Jackman was disappointed with the first one. It's quite good although a bit cheesy at times. It shows what happened to Wolverine after X3 (and introduces another very important woman in his life).

No Escape - tense scenes specially with children in harm's way. Some Deus Ex Mac. in some situations, but the family acted believably. The shaky cam in the beginning is pretty annoying. I thought I have problems with my eyes not focusing.
