![]() Whiplash I really don't know what to think about this movie. It's based on two completely unlikable characters, the story it tells is quite bland, the message it tries to convey is rather banal, yet there's something enchanting in it. Must be the music. Overall a well constructed and good movie, but I don't think it's deserving all the acclaim it's getting.

It's enjoyably stupid in the right ways like the F&F franchise, but the action is over-edited to the point of tiring out Michael Bay. There's several parts of the film that go minutes without a continuous shot longer than 1 second. It's nauseating.

4/5 + Show Spoiler [not really a spoiler] + the stuff I hated at the start were intentional and crucial to the plot

However, after the first 30-45 minutes things came together and it really drew me in. Definitely worth watching the whole thing. 4/5 + Show Spoiler [not really a spoiler] + the stuff I hated at the start were intentional and crucial to the plot The "awful" acting was intentional and crucial to the plot?

Yeah, I thought the movie had a nice soundtrack and good acting but the whole "abuse breeds excellence" thing was just so stupid. I don't understand the acclaim either.

I don't understand the acclaim either. Just watched it as well. I understand that not all movies have to be feel good and that audience agrees with it but that was pretty disgusting imo. Fletcher was a sadistic prick who pushed his students way too far but he thought he was doing good and it was justifiable because he wanted them to reach greatness or whatever. One guy killed himself and it seemed like Andrew got there by sheer luck after giving up. But it was all good in the end since he finally reached his potential... ugh. That was my impression of it anyways. I guess the movie was pretty good since i actually thought about the movie after watching it. I really like big band jazz so the music was great for me.

Alan Turing. Worst part was the storytelling. + Show Spoiler + Yeah "oh my god we finally cracked it" is nice but saying a handful of genius cryptographers could not figure out that some words were used in most if not all communications over several months, is stupid. The readouts did not fade, things that take lots of time like the machine, took very little. It fucking looked retarded. The forced romance of a man who was not romantic, and the lie on when he told her he was gay. Some lies make it easier to paint a picture to a story. Some lies are there to make the audience feel a certain way. But they dishonor a man when they tell lies about his life. Oh well, I guess it's better than nothing. No regret to seeing it.

The wife liked it but it was a really low-key, depressing drama with a climax involving + Show Spoiler + brother and sister yelling at each other + dead goldfish Recent movies I enjoyed: Nightcrawler (just watch it, Gyllenhaal is amazing) 9.5/10 Gone Girl (loses its way a bit towards the end but thoroughly enjoyable otherwise) 8.5/10 Predestination (mindfuck where if you can get past the massive inconsistency at its core is very watchable) 8/10 Fury (worth seeing just for the tank warfare and camaraderie, gritty and realistic but blows its load with the last battle. Still the best war movie I've seen in years) 8/10 The Equalizer (good for what it is, old school revenge/action flick with Denzel. Nowhere near the level of the 4 above but enjoyable nonetheless) 7/10 The one that sucked: The Interview (didn't deserve all the publicity it got, had a few laughs but it's just another dumb stoner comedy) 5.5/10 I'm sure there are heaps of worse ones around but I try to filter them out with RT. You give every movie a 7+ , wont take you serious. also I ve also seen Fury and it was one of the worst movies I ever saw. best war movie... go see saving private ryan or something.

There seemed to be a fair amount of holes in the plot, questionable sequence of events, which seemed too unrealistic to draw me in. The music was decent the acting fairly poor, overall the movie could have been done in 100min and it wouldve been much better. Given i have the attention span of a horny teenager so.... P.S. did anyone else feel it was sexist? If the point of movie was to make cops look like idiots then I guess it could be considered decent. If that wasn't the meaning then quite honestly it was total crap.

![]() Imitation Game, just got the GF to see it with me and I loved it. There are moments where it felt like Kiera Knightly couldn't quite keep pace with the cast, but not enough to take much away. It is also a brilliant, relatively untold story of the father of modern computers.
