Just watched Interstellar at the cinema. 8/10
No matter how i try, if i try to mark it objectively it gets a low score. Something about it was amazing for me though. I don't know if was just the AV experience, or the acting (fairly solid IMO) but i really enjoyed it. Its my favourite Nolan movie so far.

It was marked as a comedy and i was realy in the mood for some good laughs! It turned out to be a depressing drama about a sister with her failed mariage and her struggling gay brother, 5/10 it might be better if you expect to see a drama Yep agreed on that one, though I knew what I was getting into. The wife liked it but it was a really low-key, depressing drama with a climax involving + Show Spoiler +brother and sister yelling at each other + dead goldfish .
Recent movies I enjoyed:
Nightcrawler (just watch it, Gyllenhaal is amazing) 9.5/10 Gone Girl (loses its way a bit towards the end but thoroughly enjoyable otherwise) 8.5/10 Predestination (mindfuck where if you can get past the massive inconsistency at its core is very watchable) 8/10 Fury (worth seeing just for the tank warfare and camaraderie, gritty and realistic but blows its load with the last battle. Still the best war movie I've seen in years) 8/10 The Equalizer (good for what it is, old school revenge/action flick with Denzel. Nowhere near the level of the 4 above but enjoyable nonetheless) 7/10
The one that sucked: The Interview (didn't deserve all the publicity it got, had a few laughs but it's just another dumb stoner comedy) 5.5/10
I'm sure there are heaps of worse ones around but I try to filter them out with RT.

I watched the new X men and it was like the plot was written by the same people who wrote the Star Trek reboot. Now I don't know if it was taken from the comics, but it was just a walking plot hole. The motivations/reasoning/events that are supposed to trigger and move forward the story just make no sense. And that made everything the characters said or did unconvincing. If they had any personality/balls they wouldn't have let themselves get dragged around by the whimsical plot.

Big Eyes: 6.5/10
Very disappointed. Went in with high expectations but instead I witnessed Burton's slump continuing, imo.
For the first time I thought Christopher Waltz was miscast. He was too over the top and harshly clashed with most of the rest of the movie. Furthermore, it seems like a half-ass Burton movie. Most of the movie is "normal" with Burtonesque scenes thrown in once in a while, creating really jarring and uncomfortable/misplaced scenes.
Movie started decent and got more and more meh as it went on, culminating in the laughable trial scene at the end.
Amy Adams was pretty good. The daughters acting was pretty terrible. Story is interesting.

The Babadook - 8.5/10
The movie isn't perfect. There are some flaws in it and the pacing isn't absolutely amazing, but the acting is really great, especially from Noah Wiseman who was only 7 at the time I believe. It's a horror movie that has much more depth than your average horror film, and touches on a lot of the greatest human fears. I'd say that it's basically a must-see for any horror lover and if you want to watch a film that kind of flew under the radar in 2014, it's pretty great.

Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Inferno Not as good as the first live action. There just weren't many fights and compared to other martial arts films, the choreography was not great. Other than one instance Rurouni was in 1 vs many fights.
Quantum of Solace Better than skyfall. But that's not saying much. The James Bond franchise seems weaker and Bond feels more human. But the fights aren't exciting. Like watching two men fight on the street rather than the world's greatest secret agent and high level hitmen. Bond film plots were never there to be realistic but damn, + Show Spoiler +can't they at least be exciting. Why just steal the water supply of a third world country? And then paint America as turning a blind eye... for speculative oil?

Quantum of Solace better than Skyfall? I humbly disagree, if only for the fact that the plot of Solace is the James Bond equivalent of Jedi moderating trade disputes in Episode one. Not the Bolivian water table!

I'll respect your opinion, but everyone seemed so old in Skyfall it seemed they were more battling arthritis than anyone else. Bond seemed like he was suffering from PTSD for most of the movie.

The Physician, nice movie worth your time (imdb rating seems correct). Its about a young man that travels from england to middle east to learn curing people from the best doctor in the world.

The general story framework kind of comes from the comics, but they didn't introduce half the characters they needed in order to have it make any sort of sense and the characters they DID have from the last reboot are so many miles distant from their comic book versions it's a far cry to say they're the same people.

I really liked that they made Bond a human in Skyfall and showed how broken he was both physically and mentally. I liked Skyfall a lot except for the Home Alone ending and maybe the villain was a tad over the top but that's usual for Bond movies i guess.

Fury was kind of good, although the movie had way too much character development that still felt rushed. Some rambling about the movie. I enjoyed it, but still 7/10 + Show Spoiler + The whole scene with the two woman in the city was just so rushed. Oh hey, i hate war and i won't participate. There's a fine looking woman, why don't you have sex with her, it's okay, no rape, cause she instantly connects with you in like 3 sec of terrible singing. Aunt thinks, yay, my niece is not a whore for sleeping with that american kid. Oh no, aermican kid has to leave cause war, but both are sooooooo sad they have to part. Fucking Nazis killed the fine looking woman, sooooo pissed! Kill all those Bastards. Also, my boss is the best, he got my dick wet after he made me execute my first prisoner of war.
Seriously. Also, the last battle was ruined for me by how ridiculous it was. I mean, I get that the germans did not have the necessary weapons to actually destroy the tank, and of course one panzerfaust missed, but hey, why are they all just running blindly into the fire and basically no one of them shoots. The second they run out of ammunition and have to get out, the germans just stop. No one aims for the hatches where people might come out, especially after people threw smoke grenades. And when they finally manage to surround the completely helpless tank, no body is checking the bottom of the tank. Also, the only guy that checks the bottom of the tank afterwards is the one good german guy to show not all germans are evil. And best, the second the americans come to check the busted tank and open the hatch, none of the two guys shoot. Seriously? They just stare at each other for 2 seconds and the guy outside casually says, oh, one survived. And without him saying a word, he is recognized as one of them and gets into the van.
Aaaaand, in the last shot, the word fury is suddenly written on top of the gun, cause it makes such a badass shot.

I hope I didn't come across too prickish about the whole matter, I am not married to a Bond film in the least, but I believe the arthritic nature you are referring to,follows a broader trend in cinema to humanize the struggles of previously superhuman protagonists. Nolan's Batman comes first and foremost to mind, but I can appreciate the perspective. Personally I prefer the slightly more, I hesitate to use the term realistic, but it seems appropriate, but that's what I'll say, cue the different strokes theme song.

Not quite as great as the book, but good nonetheless. I'd rate it a 7.5 out of 10, since at times it seemed too heavy handed in its attempt to be "edgy" or intelligent. In the end though, it's a great thriller and I do think it's worth a watch.

I thought Quantum of Solace was better on my second viewing, but neither it nor Skyfall are that great. Skyfall crosses the line of suspension of disbelief into "What the fuck is going on?"

ok so I watched "Under the Skin" pretty much because I love Scarlett Johannsen but seriously wtf did just happen in that movie?

The Butterfly Effect This was an engrossing movie. I never knew Ashton Kutcher acted as a persona, other than the retard he played in that 70's show, in comedy movies.
About a guy who can go back in time to change things. In retrospect about time copied this idea. Which is unfortunate. About Time ended up being a movie about a prick who changed the past selfishly for his own life, whereas The Butterfly Effect has someone consider the effects of his changes on the lives of the people around him. In addition the moral theme in The Butterfly Effect is stronger because it's supported by evidence whereas About Time kind of just throws it in during the last 5 minutes.
+ Show Spoiler +The Psychic was unnecessary. I didn't see the plot twist coming :/
