Although it's not for everyone (3h19m of claustrophobic Nazi-submarine warfare might be a tad too much for some), I really enjoyed it because of its grim atmosphere. No right or wrong, no heroics, no triumphant victories, just gritty warfare. I saw the German audio, English subbed (see what I did there?) version, which improved the expierence a lot. This prompted me to watch Das Boot as well. Extremely thrilling and as gritty and claustrophobic as you'd expect from a submarine movie. The ending felt rushed and out of place for me, but i still recommend watching this movie.

![]() Lucy This only loses to Transformers 4 for the title of "The Worst Movie in Recent History" because it wasn't 3 hours long (and thank the gods for that). Avoid if you can.

Really disappointed. Overall very unpolished, in both story and pacing. the new Manute actor (RIP Michael Clarke Duncan) does a good enough job to take up the role. I don't like the new Miho so much though, luckily her part is pretty small (and straight forward) Eva green etc all the main actors and actress are as perfect as you would expect. Sadly the story is just lacking and not even that interesting, the ending is terrible and extremely abrupt. There are some new characters that are introduced and I suspect they want to make a sin city 3 (or originally is going to be included in this movie) Only Eva Green story was fun to watch and felt like a sin city story, and even then, it felt weaker than any of the plots in Sin City 1. I personally think they should have followed the comics, give more rooms for new characters and put less focus on returning ones. Special effects etc are still pretty cool though. 6.5/10

![]() Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno I was a big fan of this anime when I was young, and I'm happy to relieve my fond memories of the anime through this movie. I would highly recommend this to fans of the anime series. Though I'm not really sure how a Rurouni Kenshin newbie would react to this film. I love how they tried to get the mannerisms of the characters even though it looked goofy in a live action film. I also like the cinematography of this film as well as the fight scenes.

Somehow the movie did not have the effect i anticipated. It should have been a great feel good movie, but somehow it was too desperate to be that. I don't know, it was very predictable and some parts + Show Spoiler + the daughter playing kick-ass electro guitar, come on!

Sad story is that it's one day after opening day and there were 3 people in the theater, us 2 included.

Its a bit different to your usual sci fi but the animation is good and the cast is excellent.

You should read it too if you really liked it Phillip K Dick, has written so many books that made great movies. Blade Runner is probably the best example.

![]() Ken Burns: The War - Ok, not technically a movie but fuck it. So what is this? It's a 7 part, 14 hour series about WWII told through the eyes of four towns in America and how they personally experienced WWII. Even though it is centered around that though, there is still a lot to be told about certain battles that happened and whatnot. Also was cool to see that they included Eugene Sledge in it (one of the cities profiled was Mobile, where he was from) so it was neat to have his perspective in it as well. Takes awhile to watch and it's a bit slow in the beginning, but well worth it for anyone interested in this kinda stuff. ![]() Noah - Pretty meh honestly. I thought at least maybe we would get some cool special effects of the flood or something but nope. It was also pretty slow yet was over two hours long >_> ![]() The Raid 2 - As someone who really liked the first one and heard good things about it, I had high hopes. I would say it delivered. The fight scenes are fucking awesome and more brutal than the first and there are a lot of them. Even though I didn't give a fuck about the story in the first one, I feel like they did a better job here as I actually felt interested in what happened with the story and wasn't just waiting for the next fight scene. If you liked the first one, this is definitely worth a watch. ![]() Dallas Buyers Club - Got around to seeing this finally after all the Academy Award buzz it created. It's about a man who gets diagnosed with AIDS and told he has 30 days to live. From then on he spurns his diagnosis and begins to treat himself with experimental drugs that the FDA classified as illegal at the time and opened up a Buyers club to help others with the disease while trying to get around the legal loopholes with it. Matthew McConaughey carried the movie, and was really impressed by his acting in it. Same with Jared Leto. After watching this, I think the AA's were well earned.
