Lucy

This only loses to Transformers 4 for the title of "The Worst Movie in Recent History" because it wasn't 3 hours long (and thank the gods for that).

Avoid if you can.

I would second this, at least Limitless was in the realms of making sense. It's like the people that made Lucy just decided "You know what? Since our movie is already based on a load of shit (10% brain thing), let's just throw all reasonable rationale and logic out the window and mush up whatever we can".
"A reason becomes an excuse if you don't do anything about it."

Yeah, since our body developes a resistence against pcad2, or chp4 as they call it in the movie, anyways after the 8th week, so this movie made no sense :D ... As crazy and stupid as this movie was, the acting actually was decent, the action scenes(not how they fit the plot, just how they were done) were above average. I also liked that the movie depict the movement of transhumanism, since it is an unusual and underrepresented topic.
If you are interrested in H+ check it out, if not stay away.

So I recently watched "Blade:Trinity". I knew people say it is the best movie ever, and even though I really like cheesy 90 movies I haven't had the will to watch it before.
Now that I finally seen it I concur, best movie ever...to watch before you watch another movie. Because no matter what you watch after Blade:Trinity, it will seem like the best movie you have ever seen. Blade:Trinity lets you rejoice the fun of watching a movie with children's eyes, to have no expectations, just the hope Ryan Reynolds isn't in it.
Also Posey Parker, where have you been all my life? I mean as a child I never understood why tom hanks would leave you for meg ryan, and you were kinda hot, but also kinda old in price check; I just wanted to say, you really make a fine vampiress.

So the movie I watched after Blade:Trinity: "Detatchment".
Bryan Cranston is in it, but don't get fooled, he only has 2-3 lines and the film would have probably done better without him. Someone once told Bryan he loved Detatchment, Mr.Cranston said he hadn't seen the movie since he felt the director butchered a great script. Probably true, but the greatness of the script still shines through and expected top notch performance by Adrian Brody, and unexpected top notch perfomance by Lucy Liu make this worth a watch. Also, the underaged hooker Adrain meets looks like angelina jolie looked in hackers, which is a plus, cause that movie is awesome.

Watched it earlier today.. I left the theater thinking hard about what I had just watched. I didn't like the ending honestly but I was entertained through out for the most part. Hard movie to recommend but if you're interested in seeing it I would say go for it.

The November Man

Was decent. Nothing truly epic or memorable, but definitely fun to watch.

Jack Reacher

Atrocious movie, seems to have been made to stroke Tom Cruise's ego while waiting for the next Mission Impossible to come out. Would not watch again.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

Was OK. Not as good as the original. My biggest gripes were with too liberal use of colour (not having as much impact) and Eva Green completely botching her seductress role. Her body is nice but her acting didn't fit the character at all.

I haven't seen this movie yet but the trailer released today and it looks great! Really can't wait to see this one since I have been following it for awhile and I love Paul Thomas Anderson.

Confession of a Murder
[image loading]

The revenge genre movie has been done a lot already but this movie really adds something new. Its basically about a guy that comes out and admits that he's the murderer that killed a bunch of women 15 years ago, after the statue of limitations of has passed. The detective who tracked him 15 years ago is played by Jung Jae Young, who has become one of my favorite actors after his roles in Welcome to Dongmakgol and Broken. He's in a lot of other roles too. Anyway, the film has an amazing twist right about in the middle of the movie and ends up being this great mystery whodunit/revenge story. Even manages to have a few emotional and sad love scenes as well. Really like this film and highly recommended.

I very rarely watch films that aren't in English or Korean. I came across this film while watching a weekly movie review TV show in Korea. Seemed interesting enough and decided to watch it. The movie is basically a comedy/horror film about a group of friends that go fight in a war and come back to one friend's village where there is something strange going on with the friend's wife. The movie is pretty funny and makes a lot of pop culture references that non-thai speakers would understand. The ending felt overly sweet, but it was still an entertaining movie nonetheless. And the actress is really, really pretty

Watched four stanley kubrick films also: A Clockwork Orange, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, and The Shining. All four of them were very good and i really liked how kubrick adds hard to notice but significant messages everywhere in his movies and you really start to realize what a genius kubrick is when you go and read some explanations and analysis of his films on various blogs that point out all the subliminal messages in his films. I normally don't like watching movies that are quite old but the 1080p versions and kubrick's genius really made it worth my time.

Gone Girl 2014 Directed by David Fincher

Highly recommended for misogynists. Just kidding.

Don't really want to spoil the film so I say the obvious: it's David Fincher - you won't regret seeing it.

Just watched it and I really liked it. I wouldnt even say that its worse than the first one. I dont get all the negative ciritcs. Sure it might not be for everyone but what did those people expect to see?

It got everything what makes a movies good in my eyes: Over-the-top action, violence, sexy ladies and cool one-liners.

It had way to much of Marv. The first movie had a perfect structure where it kept getting better and better and then at the end was just balls to the wall awesome.
This one the pacing was a bit off, the story didn't seem so all encompassing, the new characters just weren't cool. I dunno clearly its down to personal preference, but there's the reasons i didn't like it.
I was really super disappointed by it.

Wasn't able to sit through it. Utter garbage.

Automata

Pretty damn awesome. Really brings back the Bladerunner memories, but is distinct enough from it and touches on some other subjects too. And does a hell of a better job of also conveying the message that Transcendence was supposed to do but failed.

Highly recommended.

dont waste your time with automata if you like logic in your movies just saying. very similar to "Now you see me" in that it has 50000000 plot holes

And what was so blatantly wrong with it? I think it was 100x better than stuff like I, Robot for example.

Interstellar--definitely worth seeing, I thought it was thrilling and fascinating, though a little over-dramatized (cue Hans Zimmer) and humanized for my taste. But it has immense vision and ambition which is refreshing and it restores some of my opinion of Christopher Nolan.

I think not too much, but I think the important thing is that they did the close up shots timely and properly.

My review:
8.5/10
I would rate this just behind the Prestige as Nolan's second best work yet.
Nolan's movie always have the same vibe, I would some call it "Humanism".
This movie is no different, but it is a lot more emotional in a good way.

If I were to point out any flaw, that would be the pacing.
I think the story scope is so big that the editing wasn't perfect, some emotional parts were cut into some humor scenes fairly quickly.
imo there were some stories that felt unnecessary for me as well.

This is strange because Prestige and Memento both had difficult stories and Nolan handled the pacing almost as perfect as it could be.

I disliked the Inception ending where it doesn't end with what the message the story is trying to tell you, and merely leave the audience seeking for some basic questions.
And I am very happy that Interstellar did not repeat this mistake.
The ending isn't perfect but it is one that I like very much.
