Many times I don't agree with the Oscar nom movies - as they are often overpretentious (e.g. King's Speech), but Her was very well-done. It was funny, moving, crushing - you can really experience the whole gamut of emotions watching this. I had also just seen Spike Jonze's "Where the Wild Things Are" recently, so I am definitely becoming a big fan of Jonze's work.
I think particularly with the advance of technology these days that it should be especially relevant. No we don't have flying cars yet, but there are so many things we have and *expect* now that we wouldn't have 10 years ago. I won't talk too much more about the film, because it really is better to know as little as possible before seeing this.
Anyway, Her is highly recommended by me. Wide-release might have been 2014, but I'm still counting it as a 2013 film and thus it is one of my highest ranked films for 2013 heh heh.

Hobbit 1 - 4/10 There was like one good scene in the whole movie, the rst was fucking boring as hell. So many ridiculous bad scenes. Bullshit followed by more bullshit! THe only good part was the scenes with the White Orcleader.
Battle Royale Rip-Off Part 2 - 2/10 Part 1 was a fucking terrible Rip-Off of Battle Royale but Part 2 is the same shit again over again.
Wolf of Wall-Street - 6/10 Funny how overrated this movie is. The movie has some OK scenes, but the overall story is not that great. It was the same with Inception and Batman 2, all the release hype pushes the imdb score in riculous regions.
The Game - 7/10 Overall a pretty interesting storyline with a mediocre ending. But until the end the story is interesting, so its a nice movie.

Watched this yesterday, and although very far from being a car enthusiast, I still think it's the best movie released in 2013 that I've watched.

Escape Plan.
Eh. I don't like Schwarzenegger that much. Three characters try to carry an action movie.
|
The Killer
I felt a strong influence when I saw this. A presence I have not felt since "Hard Boiled" and that is the main gift from the film.

Goodfellas
I feel like I had seen this before but with the obscene amount of weed I smoked I must've forgotten it entirely. After finishing the film I feel like I've been watching garbage for most of my life.

Comments >>>>>> notes. How I'm supposed to know why you give a movie 7.348 and another 6.12456

Drop the tone and attitude or there will be consequences.

Day of the Dead
The third film in Romero's original trilogy. A fine film given its troubled production cycle, but definitely not as powerful as Dawn of the Dead. However, the interplay between the scientists and the military personnel and how the zombies act as a pressure cooker is fantastic. Half of the movie is just people talking, but it's still somehow enthralling. Dawn of the Dead was as perfect a movie as you could ever create, so it's hard to live up to those expectations. But Day of the Dead has Bub, and CHOOKE ON EMMMM, CHOKE ON EMMMM, so maybe they pull even in the end. Anyway, fucking fantastic movie.

Watched Her last night and I can't shake off the feeling this movie brought up. Wonderful acting by Joaquin. I'm sure it was a challenging part to play but he delivered it without any faults. I just Love him. God damn you oscar pricks give this man the award he deserves already. Such a near perfect movie. It packs everything in it, if it's drama, revolutionary thinking, challenging the norms, great comedy parts etc. It's been a long time since a movie had such an impact on me and I'm damn happy I had the privilege to watch it. This kind of movies is the reason I fell in love with the movie industry.

Movie request review for Don Jon. Scarlett Johansson is pretty but I don't remember her from anything but Lost in Translation so I'm not sure if she's a good actress.

Need time to digest. + Show Spoiler +I think the topic is interesting. With Japanese dating games and characters like Elizabeth from Bioshock, the topic of people dating computers is interesting.
Obviously that isn't all what the movie is about. There's loneliness, loss, love, and happiness. The characters needed to learn acceptance. To accept that they just need to be happy and not care as much about what others think of them. And also accept when they become too different from one another.
I think I'm starting to feel lonely. In this way the movie is nice, but it's hard for me to connect in other ways with the film.

You mean you want our feelings on the movie ?
Found it kind of disappointing. The movie starts alright in my opinion, being a little bolder when talking about sexuality while somewhat being funny.
However, somewhere in the middle of the movie it starts crumbling down, evolving into such a cheesy morale you will feel that the whole movie is being completely judgmental on what it presented at the start. While yes the character has a problem, there was still substance for a little more than "this is wrong" "this is right", not everything had to be thrown out. This very holywoodian point of view of sexuality sadly makes the movie "just one of those". The transformation of the main character is also too radical and too quick to be believable.
So if you want your 20th romance comedy it's alright. Actors are fine, scarlett doesn't have a big role in it, she makes only a few apparences. JGL makes most of the movie.

Watched Riddick (the one from 2013) this evening, it was kinda ok nothing special but not amazing. It was what you are excepting, Vin Diesel is badass as usual but as soon as you need something like a "plot" it gets kinda dumb.
+ Show Spoiler +Also whoever casted Johns dad deserves to be fired, he might be a good actor but he just doesn´t fit into the role. Might be the german voice acting too, which is terrible

Saw "Dallas Buyers Club." Solid 4/5. Jared Leto has this in the bag. Mathew id say is the favorite at this point, and Garner was pretty good.

Garner is a disaster... God she is so bad :\ Well at least she was a good reference of what is a bad actor throughout the movie and that made me appreciate Mathews acting even more. But yeah I agree with you about the movie, it's a solid movie. I love the fact that it was not trying to be over dramatic.
